Check the seller, written condition claim, identifiers, regional model, warranty and return terms together. No single IMEI lookup, box or visual inspection proves that a Galaxy S25 Ultra has never been used. A genuine Samsung phone can also be refurbished: Samsung sells Certified Re-Newed S25 Ultra devices in selected markets.
What “genuine” and “new” mean
Authenticity and condition are separate questions. A genuine Galaxy S25 Ultra may be factory-new, open-box, used or refurbished. Samsung’s Certified Re-Newed program sells refurbished S25-series phones, including the S25 Ultra, in selected markets. The phone can therefore be genuine Samsung hardware without being factory-new.
Samsung says its renewed-device process includes inspection, cleaning and more than 100 quality tests, with genuine Samsung parts used when components need replacement. The devices are reset, packed in a new recyclable-material box and, according to Samsung, receive the same warranty as new Galaxy devices, subject to market-specific terms. Samsung also cautions that slight external blemishes may remain. Samsung’s announcement describes the program.
Samsung calls the offer Certified Re-Newed in markets including Germany and the UK; in France it uses the name Refurbished Premium by Samsung. Samsung says renewed devices in France, Germany and the UK receive new IMEI numbers. A clean-looking device, new box or new IMEI is therefore not proof of factory-new history.

Before you buy: establish exactly what is being offered
Get the condition and seller terms in writing
Ask the seller to specify whether the phone is factory-new, open-box, returned, refurbished or used. Keep a copy of the listing and obtain the seller’s identity, invoice or proof of purchase, return terms and warranty promise. A matching identifier or convincing packaging does not validate a seller’s claim about condition.
Confirm the exact model and country of first sale
Ask for the model code and the country where the phone was first sold. Check network compatibility and warranty with Samsung or the carrier in the country where you intend to use it. Do not assume a regional model will work on every local network or qualify for local manufacturer service; the available official guidance does not establish a universal region-code compatibility table.

Assess the whole offer, not just the discount
Compare listings for the same storage tier and local market. Consider stated condition, seller identity, return window, model and network fit, warranty and service location, as well as total price. No universal price threshold establishes that a deal is fraudulent, and a low price alone does not prove a phone is fake or used.

When the phone is available: check its identifiers
Samsung says an IMEI is 15 digits and can be displayed by dialing *#06#. It may also appear on the box and sales records. Follow these steps before accepting the purchase:

*#06#on the phone and record the displayed IMEI. - Compare it with the IMEI on the box and the invoice or sales record. Check that the identifiers agree, and retain a record of the comparison.
- If there is a mismatch or anything else concerns you, ask Samsung support in the relevant country to check it before the return window closes.
Samsung documents how to find an IMEI in its US support guide. A matching IMEI is a consistency check, not proof that the phone is unused, that the seller is authorized, or that local warranty coverage applies.
Verify warranty and service where you will use the phone
Check the warranty with Samsung support for your country rather than relying only on the seller’s description. Coverage and repair access can depend on the phone’s market of first sale. For example, Samsung US warns that service for a smartphone bought in another country may be limited to the country where it was first sold; repair may take longer or incur charges. Those are US support terms, not a universal rule for every market. See Samsung US support and ask the relevant local Samsung office about the specific model.

Official device-registration advice is market-specific too. Samsung Peru recommends buying from official stores or authorized distributors and describes local IMEI registration with Renteseg. That guidance applies to Peru; elsewhere, check the local Samsung support site and any applicable official device registry rather than assuming Peru’s process applies. See Samsung Peru’s guidance.
Inspect the phone and keep your return option
If you can inspect the device in person or upon delivery, record the unboxing and compare the handset with the listing. Check the displayed model and IMEI against the seller’s records, and look for signs of use or damage. These checks can reveal discrepancies, but appearance alone cannot establish the phone’s history.

- Keep the listing, invoice, written condition claim and packaging until you have resolved any concern.
- If the condition, model or identifiers do not match what the seller promised, contact the seller promptly and use the stated return process.
- If you need confirmation about an identifier, regional model or warranty, contact Samsung support in the market where you will use the phone while you still have return protection.
What can—and cannot—be established
The checks above can help identify inconsistencies and clarify who will support the phone, but the official sources cited here do not establish a single public Samsung check that proves a specific handset has never been used. If factory-new condition is essential, rely on a clear written seller claim, a usable return option and confirmation of the relevant warranty—not on packaging or an identifier alone.
