To find what a Galaxy S26 really costs, compare the exact model and storage tier at checkout—not just the advertised starting price. A report published October 1, 2026, said US prices had increased, but those reported figures are not guaranteed live checkout quotes. Your seller, carrier, trade-in eligibility, taxes, shipping, and payment terms can change what you actually pay.
What price increase was reported?
Tom’s Guide reported on October 1, 2026, that US prices rose by $100 for the base Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and 256GB Galaxy S26 Ultra, and by $200 for the 1TB Galaxy S26 Ultra. The report listed the following prices; treat them as reported figures, not confirmed prices at your checkout. Tom’s Guide’s October 1 report
| Configuration | Reported price after increase | Reported change |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S26, 256GB | $999 | +$100 |
| Galaxy S26, 512GB | $1,199 | not stated in the report for this configuration |
| Galaxy S26+, 256GB | $1,199 | +$100 |
| Galaxy S26+, 512GB | $1,399 | not stated in the report for this configuration |
| Galaxy S26 Ultra, 256GB | $1,399 | +$100 |
| Galaxy S26 Ultra, 1TB | $1,999 | +$200 |
The report gave prices for the 512GB S26 and S26+ but did not specify their increases. Samsung’s US launch announcement is useful historical context: it listed starting prices of $899.99 for S26, $1,099.99 for S26+, and $1,299.99 for S26 Ultra. Those were launch prices, not current offers. Samsung listed 256GB and 512GB options for S26 and S26+, and 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB for Ultra; general availability began March 11, 2026. How to compare the real cost
- Match model and storage. Compare S26 with S26, S26+ with S26+, or Ultra with Ultra, then select the same storage capacity. A series-level “starting at” figure is not a like-for-like comparison.
- Compare the same purchase type. Check unlocked against unlocked, or compare the same carrier’s version and offer. Samsung’s launch announcement named Samsung.com, Amazon Stores, Best Buy, Samsung Experience Stores, and carriers as sales channels; that does not establish their current prices or inventory. Samsung’s US launch announcement
- Separate the price from the payment arrangement. A lower monthly amount may rely on financing, a qualifying service plan, or bill credits paid over time. Samsung’s purchase page presents carrier offers, Samsung financing, and trade-in options; read the offer terms and calculate the total obligation before treating a monthly figure as a lower phone price. Samsung’s purchase page
- Count only a trade-in credit you qualify for. Samsung says the value depends on eligibility and device condition. Its offer terms also say a trade-in does not cancel existing contracts or related payments and fees. Do not assume an advertised maximum is the credit you will receive. Samsung trade-in terms
- Check the final checkout amount. Samsung’s purchase page says displayed totals exclude taxes and shipping. Add those costs for your location, along with any required continuing plan or payment obligation. Samsung’s purchase page
Use a like-for-like comparison
Before buying, record the details below for each offer. This makes a discounted sticker price, a trade-in estimate, or a carrier’s monthly payment easier to evaluate against the total you would actually pay.
