1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo check whether a Huawei Mate 90 will work with your carrier, identify the exact regional model, compare its official LTE and 5G band list with the carrier’s frequencies, and ask the carrier to check the phone’s IMEI and required calling and activation features. A band match alone does not guarantee approval or full service. The official Huawei specifications available for the China-market Mate 90 do not list its cellular band numbers, so you should not assume compatibility until Huawei or the seller confirms the bands for your exact SKU.
Why the exact Mate 90 variant matters
“Mate 90” by itself is not enough to establish compatibility. Huawei’s official pages describe a China-market product, but they do not establish that a handset sold in another region has the same radio hardware or software. Record the full model or SKU and country of sale from the box, phone settings, invoice, or seller before checking a carrier.
Huawei’s China-market specifications state that the phone has two nano-SIM slots and supports eSIM, with eSIM use requiring the relevant carrier service. That confirms a handset capability, not that a carrier in your country will activate eSIM on this particular variant. Huawei’s purchase guide lists 12 GB RAM configurations with 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB storage; these listings do not establish radio compatibility outside China.
How to check the Mate 90 against a carrier
- Identify the exact model. Note the complete model/SKU and region of sale. If a seller cannot identify the variant, ask before buying; a family name alone does not provide enough information to evaluate its radios.
- Get the official bands for that SKU. Ask Huawei or the seller for its supported LTE bands and 5G NR bands. Huawei’s retrieved China-market specification page does not expose a band table, so exact band numbers cannot be confirmed from that page. Do not substitute a band list for another Huawei phone or presume all Mate 90 variants are identical. Huawei Mate 90 specifications.
- Compare with your carrier’s frequencies where you use the phone. Check the carrier’s current LTE and 5G frequencies for your home, work, and travel areas. Consider low-, mid-, and high-band 5G where applicable, as well as LTE bands used for coverage and voice. Partial overlap may mean weaker coverage or lower speeds. T-Mobile’s BYOD guidance says, “Your device must support the frequencies used by T-Mobile,” and warns that partial compatibility can reduce coverage and speed. T-Mobile BYOD and network guidance.
- Run the carrier’s IMEI checker. Get the handset’s IMEI from the device or seller and use the destination carrier’s official bring-your-own-device checker, ideally before purchase. T-Mobile’s checker uses the IMEI; if no match appears, its guidance recommends checking supported frequencies and contacting the manufacturer if you are unsure. T-Mobile bring-your-own-device checker and guidance.
- Verify it is SIM-unlocked. A phone locked to its original carrier may not accept another carrier’s SIM. Ask the seller for proof of unlock status; if it is locked, the original carrier must unlock it. Google’s general carrier guidance also notes that a phone must be SIM-unlocked to use another carrier. Google carrier guidance.
- Confirm calling and activation features. Ask the carrier whether it supports voice over LTE (VoLTE), 5G access, emergency calling requirements, and eSIM activation for the exact handset variant. T-Mobile advises checking VoLTE and Extended Range LTE as part of a BYOD assessment. A physical nano-SIM option does not answer whether the carrier will provision all these services.
How to compare carrier options
If you have a choice of carriers, assess each one separately rather than relying on a coverage map or a single matching band. Use the exact Mate 90 SKU in every check.

| What to compare | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| IMEI eligibility | Whether the carrier’s official checker accepts the exact handset. |
| Band coverage | Whether the handset’s confirmed LTE and 5G bands overlap the carrier’s frequencies in the places you use it. |
| Voice and emergency calling | Whether the carrier supports VoLTE and required emergency calling functions on this model. |
| 5G access | Whether the carrier permits the phone to access its available 5G layers and services. |
| SIM activation | Whether the carrier can activate a physical SIM or eSIM on this regional variant. |
| Unlock status and restrictions | Whether the phone is SIM-unlocked and whether carrier-specific restrictions affect activation. |
What a compatibility result does—and does not—mean
Band overlap is necessary for access to the corresponding radio frequencies, but it does not by itself show that a carrier will approve the IMEI, provision voice or 5G, or deliver every feature. T-Mobile cautions that the functionality of non-T-Mobile devices is not guaranteed. Treat a positive checker result as one part of the decision, then confirm needed services with the carrier. Likewise, a general coverage map describes network availability, not whether this specific phone will be accepted.
For eSIM, distinguish between the phone supporting the feature and the carrier supporting activation for your region and SKU. Huawei says eSIM requires the relevant carrier service and notes that availability depends on carriers; verify activation directly before relying on it.

What is currently confirmed about Mate 90 bands
The official Huawei Mate 90 specification page reviewed here does not provide LTE or 5G band numbers. That means a reliable band-by-band comparison—and a yes-or-no compatibility verdict—cannot be made without the exact regional SKU’s official band list, your country and carrier, and the carrier’s live IMEI result. Ask Huawei or the seller for the band list and have the destination carrier assess the exact handset before purchasing or switching service.
