Before traveling near the Gomti, check the Central Water Commission’s (CWC) FloodWatch India app for the latest station-level flood situation and forecast, then cross-check Uttar Pradesh government updates and notices for your exact route. A river reading or forecast at one station does not establish conditions at every bridge, road, ghat, or destination.
Check FloodWatch India for the latest river information
FloodWatch India is the CWC’s official mobile app for flood situation and forecast information. Its current listing describes near-real-time monitoring and forecasts or advisories up to seven days, with English and Hindi support. The CWC launch announcement, dated 17 August 2023, says users can search by station name or select stations on an interactive map. Check the current app listing for availability and features.

- Open FloodWatch India and search for the Gomti or a station relevant to your journey; alternatively, use the map to identify available stations.
- Open the station result and note its name and location, the date and time, the displayed water level or flood category, and whether the level is rising, steady, or falling.
- Check any forecast, advisory, or warning and its stated horizon. Compare a warning or danger threshold only if the live source provides one.
- Refresh the information shortly before departure, and again en route if conditions are changing.
The app’s stated forecast horizon is not a guarantee that a particular riverside area or road is safe.
Cross-check Uttar Pradesh alerts and travel notices
Use the Uttar Pradesh Office of the Relief Commissioner portal to reach official sources including CWC flood forecasts, the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the state disaster-management authority, the Irrigation Department, and the state Flood Management Information System. The portal cautions that displayed information should be verified against final documents issued by the relevant authorities.

Before setting out, check current notices from the district administration, police, transport authority, or other responsible agency for the specific route and destination. A river forecast is not a road-closure notice. The official sources reviewed here do not establish a current Gomti-specific road-closure list, so verify route conditions directly with the authorities responsible for them.
How to compare station results with your route
When comparing updates, use the station’s location and timestamp as well as its reading. A level or flood category applies to that observation point; it does not prove conditions elsewhere along the river. Likewise, regional rainfall warnings and a forecast for one station are not guarantees about another location.
- Station and location: Is the observation point relevant to the part of the Gomti near your route?
- Timestamp: How recently was the reading or forecast issued?
- Level and trend: What level or category is shown, and is it rising, steady, or falling?
- Forecast and thresholds: What forecast horizon, warning, or danger threshold does the live source actually provide?
- Route notices: Have the responsible local authorities issued any current access, closure, or travel notice for the places you plan to visit?
The CWC says its national observation network includes 878 sites on major rivers and tributaries and 76 exclusive meteorological stations; the page does not specify a year for those counts, and network totals may change. The National Water Data Portal also catalogs hourly telemetry river-level data from Uttar Pradesh’s Surface Water Department. That catalog listing does not itself provide a current Gomti reading or establish which station is useful for a particular trip.

What is—and is not—confirmed about current Gomti conditions
The official source pages available for this article did not surface a current Gomti gauge reading or Gomti-specific forecast value. Check FloodWatch India and Uttar Pradesh’s official channels for a dated live result rather than relying on a general headline or an older bulletin.
A CWC bulletin dated 12 September 2024 included the Gomti in an expected water-level-rise advisory for Uttar Pradesh. That is historical context only; it is not the current Gomti level or an active alert. No river reading alone can confirm the safety of a particular road, bridge, ghat, or destination.
