To change the Wi-Fi network saved on your Sonos system, use the Sonos app’s network-update flow rather than setting up your speakers as a new system. The steps depend on whether you use the current Sonos app or the S1 Controller app. Sonos says this is needed after changing your Wi-Fi name or password, or replacing your router. Sonos Support’s new-router instructions provide the procedures below.
Change Wi-Fi in the current Sonos app
Use this route in the current Sonos app on iOS or Android when the system cannot connect to the new network. Keep Sonos products disconnected from Ethernet until the update is complete.
- Open the Sonos app and wait for it to search for your system.
- When the app displays “No products found,” open Settings.
- Select Visit Help Center, then Update Network.
- Follow the prompts. Sonos says supported products are updated one at a time.
- After all supported products have joined the new Wi-Fi, reconnect any Ethernet cables that your setup requires.
If the app does not show these labels, check the on-screen instructions for your app version; Sonos can change interface wording.

- The new acoustic architecture replaces Move's single tweeter with two, unlocking a higher-fidelity stereo soundstage with crisp vocals and detailed instruments. With deep, dynamic bass powered by the precision-tuned woofer, you'll feel the emotional charge of a live performance.
- With automatic Trueplay tuning, Move 2 continually optimizes the sound for its surroundings. So, no matter where you are or what you play, you get the best listening experience.
- Listen twice as long as with the previous generation. All the acoustic updates work in concert for increased efficiency, giving you up to 24 hours of playback on a single charge.
- Shock absorbent materials protect against accidental drops, and the IP56 rating ensures spills, splashes, rain, dirt, and dust don't dampen your listening experience.
- Use the built-in handle to bring your music from one place to the next. When the battery needs a boost, set Move 2 on the included Wireless Charging Base, upgraded with a detachable power cable and more compact adapter. Charge on the go with any USB-PD power supply.
- Open S1 Controller and wait while it searches for the system.
- At “Unable to connect to Sonos,” select Learn More.
- Select Changed router or Wi-Fi settings?
- Follow the app instructions to reconnect.
For some multi-product systems using a wireless S1 setup, the process may ask you to temporarily connect one Sonos product to the router with an Ethernet cable. After wiring it, if other products are missing, reboot those products and go to Settings > System > Network > Wireless Setup to connect them to Wi-Fi. Follow the prompts for your system rather than factory-resetting products as a first step. Sonos’s S1 and new-router instructions describe this flow.
Check whether your model needs Sonos’s alternate procedure
The normal app update can discover products that support Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). Sonos lists the following models as lacking BLE support for discovery during this Wi-Fi update process:

- Sub (Gen 1) and Sub (Gen 2)
- SYMFONISK Bookshelf (Gen 1) and SYMFONISK Table lamp (Gen 2)
For these products, Sonos provides a different procedure that involves temporary Ethernet wiring and other system changes, including a factory reset and re-adding a product. Do not use that procedure for every system: check the official instructions for your specific model and follow them in order. See Sonos’s new-router instructions for the model-specific steps.

Use Ethernet as a recovery option
Sonos documents both wired and wireless setups. If a supported product is already part of your system, connecting it to the router by Ethernet can switch the system to a wired setup. Allow about a minute for products to change over; reboot any that remain missing. Some products cannot provide or use the dedicated Sonos wireless network in this setup. Details and product-specific limitations are in Sonos’s wired and wireless setup instructions.

- Durable, IP67 waterproof and dustproof, and ready for outdoor adventures

Switch back to Wi-Fi
- Current Sonos app: Open Settings > Network > Update Networks and follow the prompts.
- S1 Controller: Open Settings > System > Network > Wireless Setup and enter the Wi-Fi password.
When wireless setup finishes, disconnect Ethernet from products wired to the router, as directed by Sonos.
