You can change a scheduled YouTube Premiere’s thumbnail and start time in YouTube Studio without recreating the video. Edit the thumbnail in the video’s details, then change its date and time under Edit > Visibility. Save the changes and check both the Studio listing and public watch page; thumbnail updates can take time to appear.
Change the thumbnail of a scheduled Premiere
- Sign in to YouTube Studio and select Content.
- Open the scheduled Premiere by selecting its title or thumbnail.
- In the video details, find Thumbnail. Upload your replacement image, or choose an available suggested thumbnail.
- Select Save.
- Allow time for the updated thumbnail to appear across YouTube, then check the public watch page as well as Studio.
YouTube requires a verified account to upload a custom thumbnail. This guidance is for standard video thumbnails, not the separate thumbnail workflow for Shorts. See YouTube’s custom thumbnail instructions and video settings help.
Change the scheduled start time
- In Studio, open Content and select the scheduled Premiere.
- Choose Edit, then Visibility.
- Use the scheduling controls to set the new date and time.
- Save or publish the edit, following the control shown in Studio.
- Confirm the revised schedule in Studio and on the public Premiere watch page.
This edits the existing scheduled video’s visibility and schedule settings; you do not need to create a replacement Premiere. YouTube’s scheduled publish time instructions describe this workflow but do not provide a separate Premiere-only rescheduling procedure.

A Premiere has a public watch page before it starts. Viewers can visit the page, set a reminder, comment, and chat. The countdown begins at the scheduled time and runs for the selected countdown duration, so moving the schedule also moves when viewers should expect the countdown and shared viewing to begin. YouTube describes Premieres as a way for creators and viewers to watch and experience a new video together in real time; see Premiere a new video.

YouTube recommends scheduling at least 24 hours ahead to give audiences around the world an opportunity to see the thumbnail in their subscriptions feed. Treat that as guidance, not a guarantee that every viewer or YouTube surface will show it by a precise deadline. More on the recommendation: YouTube Premiere tips.
Check the time zone on the watch page
The date shown on the public watch page can differ from the date shown in Studio because the watch-page date is based on Pacific time. This is especially worth checking when your selected time falls near midnight in your own time zone. Use the scheduled date and time shown in Studio as your reference for the setting you chose, and verify the public page before sharing the updated schedule.
