To change a Samsung washer’s chime, use the sound control for your exact model—on the washer’s panel, in SmartThings if supported, or in the Settings menu on some screen-equipped Bespoke models. To stop alerts on your phone, change SmartThings notifications separately. Sound options and button sequences vary by model and market, so the washer’s user manual is the deciding reference.
First, identify what you want to silence
A sound from the washer and a push notification on your phone are controlled separately. Use the washer’s sound setting for cycle chimes and other machine sounds; use SmartThings notification settings for phone alerts. Turning off the washer’s alarm does not necessarily silence every sound or disable app notifications.
Check whether your washer supports sound adjustment
Find the exact model number and open its user manual. Samsung says sound adjustment is available only on select models; if the manual does not describe a sound control, the feature is not supported on that model. Do not assume that instructions for another Samsung washer—or a similar-looking panel—will apply.
Change the washer’s alarm or chime from its control panel
Look for a dedicated Sound, Alarm Off, or similar button. On some models, sound is a secondary function printed by another button, with labels such as Sound Off, Super Speed, Temp., or Extra Rinse. Samsung Canada says secondary controls generally require holding the button for three seconds, but the label and operation depend on the model. Follow the manual rather than trying combinations at random. See Samsung Canada’s sound instructions.

Regional panel examples—not universal steps
Samsung’s regional guides illustrate why it is important to use model-specific instructions. For an AI Panel example, Samsung India describes holding Options for three seconds, selecting Alarm with the navigation dial, then choosing On or Off. Samsung UK describes holding Options for five seconds on its AI Panel example, or holding Spin and Options together for five seconds on its LED Panel example. These are examples for the panels covered by those guides, not interchangeable instructions for every washer. See Samsung India’s alarm guide and Samsung UK’s alarm guide.
Use SmartThings sound controls if your washer offers them
If the washer supports SmartThings, connect it and open its appliance card. Depending on the model, the lower part of the card may include a Sounds switch or a volume slider; some select models also provide an End-of-cycle Alarm choice. If no sound control appears, check the panel and manual. A washer’s SmartThings compatibility alone does not mean its sound settings can be changed in the app. Samsung’s guidance is available in its Canadian sound article and UK alarm guide.

Find sound options on a screen-equipped Bespoke washer
Some screen-equipped Bespoke models place sound controls in the on-screen Settings menu. Samsung’s Bespoke guidance lists Sound mode, Sound theme, and Volume. These labels and options are product-line examples; use the manual for the exact model. See Samsung’s Bespoke sound guidance.
Turn off SmartThings notifications on your phone
For app alerts rather than a chime from the machine, change SmartThings notification settings. Samsung US gives this path: open SmartThings, tap Menu, tap Settings, then switch Notifications off. Samsung UK also describes notification controls at washer level, including Do not disturb and an option to Always allow emergency alerts. The menu labels and scope can differ by app version and region; use the option that matches the alerts you want to stop. See Samsung US’s SmartThings notification instructions and Samsung UK’s washer notification guidance.

What may still make a sound?
Alarm Off is not a guarantee that the washer will be silent. Samsung says the alarm setting can disable the cycle-completion chime and power-off sound while leaving button sounds enabled. Samsung India also notes that its Alarm Off setting disables the AddWash alarm and cycle melody, while another alert, such as a Child Lock notification, may remain active. Which sounds remain depends on the model.
Samsung’s India AI Panel and UK alarm guidance say the chosen alarm setting remains after a restart for the models covered by those instructions. Do not assume that persistence applies to every Samsung washer; consult its manual if you need to know whether the setting will be retained.
