You can’t change the menu language on a paired Samsung Galaxy Watch without changing the connected phone’s language. Samsung says the watch’s display language follows that phone. You can change the watch’s keyboard, voice-input, or Bixby language separately, but those settings won’t translate its menus.
Why your paired Galaxy Watch uses your phone’s language
Samsung does not document a separate display-language override for a paired watch. Its Galaxy Watch language instructions say the watch’s displayed language cannot be changed on the watch while it is paired; Samsung’s US troubleshooting guidance likewise says a paired watch’s language is based on the connected phone.
That means there is no supported setting to keep the phone in one language while displaying the paired watch’s menus in another. If you need the watch menus in a different language, the supported option is to change the connected phone’s default language.

- On your Galaxy phone, open Settings > General management > Language. Samsung notes that menu names and screens can vary by model, provider, and software version. See its phone and tablet language instructions if your menus differ.
- Select the language you want and apply it as the phone’s default language.
- Check the watch’s menus after the phone language changes. Samsung’s troubleshooting steps apply to watches sold in the US.
If the watch still shows the wrong language after you have changed the phone’s language, Samsung lists resetting the watch as a later troubleshooting option. A reset is not the first step for changing languages; consult Samsung’s troubleshooting page for the applicable reset instructions and consequences.

Change only the keyboard, dictation, or Bixby language
These settings affect input or voice-assistant interactions, not the language used for watch menus and screens. Samsung cautions that each input setting must be changed individually, and available options and paths vary by watch model and software.

Can you change the language directly on an unpaired watch?
Samsung’s instructions describe a standalone-watch exception: if a watch is standalone, its display language can be set at Settings > General > Language. If Language is missing or grayed out, Samsung says the watch is paired. Wear OS Galaxy Watch models cannot be configured as standalone watches, so this exception does not provide a watch-only language change for those models.
