To show Hijri dates in Samsung Calendar, open Calendar > Menu > Settings > Alternate calendar and choose Hijri. The menu label and route can differ by Galaxy model, software version, and region; if you do not see that option, use the alternate paths below.
Turn on Hijri dates in Samsung Calendar
- Open the Calendar app on your Galaxy phone.
- Open the app menu. Depending on your version, tap the three-line Menu button or the three-dot menu.
- Tap Settings or the settings gear.
- Look for Alternate calendar. If it is not listed, check Calendar settings and then Calendar type or Display options.
- Select Hijri, then return to the calendar view to see whether Hijri dates appear alongside Gregorian dates.
Samsung’s Singapore instructions use Calendar > Menu > Settings > Alternate calendar, where Hijri is one of five options. Samsung Gulf documents a route through Calendar settings and Calendar type or Display options. Samsung notes that menus and availability can vary by model and software version, and regional localization can affect which calendars are available. If you want Hijri dates on the lock screen or widget
Lock screen
Enabling Hijri in Samsung Calendar does not guarantee that the date will also appear on the lock screen. A Samsung Customer Support reply in a Samsung Members thread recommends enabling the alternate calendar in Calendar, but that community guidance does not establish the same lock-screen behavior for every Galaxy. Older Samsung Community replies describe a separate Settings > Lock screen > Clock style control for changing the date shown with the clock; the available controls depend on the device and One UI version. Widget behavior is not established as universal. Check the Calendar widget preview on your own phone to see whether it displays Hijri dates.

If the Hijri option is missing
- Check for a software update. Samsung recommends updating when an alternate calendar option is absent.
- Allow for regional and model differences. Samsung says availability can vary with localization, device model, and software version.
- Restart the phone. Samsung lists restarting as an additional troubleshooting step, though it may not resolve every case.
- Confirm which display you mean. Samsung Calendar, a home-screen widget, the notification panel, and the lock-screen clock can have different controls.
If the instructions still do not match your phone, identify your Galaxy model, software version, region, and the screen where you want the Hijri date. Samsung’s alternate-calendar support page describes the availability caveats and troubleshooting guidance.
Calendar display is not the phone’s system date
Choose Hijri in Calendar rather than changing the phone’s date and time. The system date and time control the device clock; Samsung warns that an inaccurate setting can cause apps and websites to behave incorrectly or display security warnings. See Samsung’s date and time guide.

Can you adjust the Hijri date by a day?
The cited Samsung support instructions explain how to select Hijri, but do not establish a universal control for shifting its displayed date forward or backward by one day. A community search result mentions a “Hijri Date Adjustment: +1 day” setting without an authoritative, generally applicable menu path. Do not assume every Galaxy has this control; availability and steps would need to be confirmed for the specific model and software version.
