Care for Pokémon apparel, plush, and collectibles according to the instructions for that specific item—not a single rule for the whole brand. Check the sewn-in label, tag, packaging, or official product listing before cleaning. Materials and construction vary, and Pokémon says many products are supported by their manufacturers rather than The Pokémon Company International.
Start with the item’s own care instructions
Pokémon merchandise spans clothing, toys and plush, home items, publishing, and other categories, so the appropriate care method depends on the product. The official merchandise catalog and Pokémon Parents merchandise guide show that breadth, but they do not set one cleaning method for every item.
- Check the sewn-in care label, hangtag, packaging, or product page.
- Follow the item-specific instructions, including any limits such as hand wash or surface clean only.
- If instructions are missing, contact the item’s manufacturer or seller. Pokémon Support notes that many products are supported by their manufacturers.
How to care for Pokémon apparel
Use the garment’s sewn-in care label as the authority. The official sources establish that Pokémon apparel is sold, but do not establish a shared wash temperature, machine cycle, detergent, ironing method, or dryer setting for shirts, hoodies, bags, and other garments. Do not assume one item’s directions apply to another.

How to wash a Pokémon plush
Check the plush’s tag and the specific product listing first. Only use a washing method the instructions permit. For example, the Pokémon Center listing for Jigglypuff Pokémon Comfy Cuddlers Plush says: “Gently hand wash the plush in warm water, then pat it down with a towel before hanging it up to dry.” That direction applies to this listed product; it is not a universal instruction for Pokémon plush.
When a plush is marked hand washable
Follow its stated directions and drying instructions. Pokémon Japan’s July 2022 announcement described six hand-washable plush, and its July 2024 announcement described seven additional plush and advised drying them well after washing. The 2022 announcement referred to a planned Amazon.co.jp launch; it does not establish current stock or availability.

When the instructions are unclear
Do not put a plush in a washing machine unless its own instructions allow it. Avoid extending hand-washing directions to plush with electronic parts, adhesives, weighted filling, delicate details, or surface-clean-only instructions unless the item’s guidance explicitly permits that method. If you cannot confirm a safe method, ask the manufacturer or seller before cleaning.

Identify the item’s materials and check its own instructions before cleaning or storing it. The official sources establish a broad range of Pokémon merchandise, but do not provide a universal care standard for figures, cards, pins, textiles, or other collectibles.

If instructions are unavailable, gentle dry dusting may be a cautious option for a suitable hard surface. Avoid liquids, cleaners, or abrasive methods on materials you cannot identify or whose care requirements are unknown. Preserve any label or packaging that contains care guidance. Specific storage conditions—such as humidity limits or light-protection requirements—are not established by the sources cited here, so do not treat a single storage setup as suitable for every collectible.

If ease of cleaning matters, inspect the specific product’s care directions before purchase. A “washable” description applies to the product identified in that listing, not to every plush in a character line or brand. Check current product information and availability for your region; historical launch announcements do not confirm that a listing is still in stock.
