Set your phone to the orientation you want, open the website, and take a screenshot: the capture reflects what is currently on screen. For content that extends below the screen, use the phone’s long-page capture option when available: Full Page on supported iPhone screens, Capture more on Android 12 and later for most scrollable screens, or Scroll capture on supported Samsung Galaxy devices.
Choose portrait or landscape before capturing
Portrait is the phone’s upright orientation; landscape is the wider view after turning the phone sideways. A screenshot records the current display, so choose the orientation before taking it. Rotation also depends on the app: if a page will not turn, check that rotation is enabled and try a browser such as Safari that supports landscape.
iPhone
- Open the website in Safari and position the page where you want the screenshot to begin.
- To switch to landscape, swipe down from the top-right corner to open Control Center, turn off Portrait Orientation Lock, close Control Center, and turn the phone sideways. If it does not rotate, the app or screen may not support landscape.
- For an ordinary screenshot on an iPhone with Face ID, quickly press and release Side + Volume Up together. On an iPhone with a Home button, press and release Side + Home together.
- Tap the screenshot preview to edit or save it. Apple’s documented Full Page workflow can save a supported webpage capture as an image or PDF.
Android phones, including Pixel
- Open the website and set the orientation. Open Quick Settings and enable Auto-rotate, or go to Settings > Display & touch > Auto-rotate screen, then turn the phone sideways.
- Take a standard screenshot with Power + Volume Down. On some devices, holding Power and tapping Screenshot is an alternative.
- To capture a long page, tap Capture more after taking the screenshot, then adjust the crop guides. Google documents this for Android 12 and later on most screens that allow scrolling; availability still depends on the device and screen.
- On devices using Google Photos’ documented workflow, find the capture under Collections > On this device > Screenshots. Other versions and manufacturers may use Gallery or a different folder.
Samsung Galaxy
- Enable the screen-rotation setting if rotation is locked, then turn the phone to the desired orientation. Menu names can vary by model and software.
- Take a standard screenshot by briefly pressing Power/Side + Volume Down.
- For a long capture, tap the Scroll capture icon (two arrows pointing down) after the screenshot, if it appears.
- Samsung says screenshots are in Gallery under Albums > Screenshots.
Capture a full webpage, not just the visible screen
A standard screenshot captures the display, not automatically the whole webpage. For a long page, use the built-in scrolling option after taking the initial screenshot:

These are phone features rather than a guarantee that every mobile browser or page can be captured as one long image. If the option is missing, the device, software, app, or specific screen may not support it.

Troubleshoot rotation and missing capture controls
- The screen stays in portrait: On iPhone, turn off Portrait Orientation Lock in Control Center. On Android, enable Auto-rotate in Quick Settings or the display settings. Confirm that the app supports landscape; some do not.
- There is no long-page option: Check that the page can scroll and that the phone supports the feature. Android’s Capture more is documented for Android 12 and later, not every screen; Samsung availability varies across models, software, carriers, and apps.
- A screenshot is blocked: Some apps or screens restrict screenshots for privacy or security. Use another permitted way to access or share the information rather than trying to bypass the restriction.
- The shortcut does not work: Follow the device maker’s instructions for your model. Android devices can differ; on some, holding Power and tapping Screenshot works instead of the button combination.
- You cannot find the file: Check Photos or Gallery and the device’s Screenshots collection or album. Folder names and locations vary by phone and software version.

Will a website look identical in portrait and landscape screenshots?
Not necessarily. A responsive website may rearrange its layout to fit the available width, so the two orientations can show different layouts.
