To compare a product page in different currencies, open the same product for each market, confirm the displayed currency, and capture the same page area at the same viewport size. Shopify store owners can preview a market from the admin; other stores may use a country or currency selector on the storefront. Keep the market, currency, date, and viewport in each image’s filename. A screenshot records the displayed price, not necessarily the currency that checkout will charge.
Keep the comparison consistent
Change the market or currency while holding the product URL, browser, viewport dimensions, zoom, and capture target constant. That makes the currency or market the main changed condition rather than differences in framing. This is a practical comparison method, not a platform-mandated protocol.
- Use a viewport screenshot for the visible product details.
- Use an element screenshot to isolate a price or product section.
- Use a full-page screenshot when important details appear below the fold.
Record the product, market or country, displayed currency, capture target, viewport, and date. A filename such as product-name_USD_US_2026-10-03_1440x900.png makes those conditions easy to identify; this is a useful naming pattern, not an official standard.
How to take screenshots in each currency
- Choose one product and a fixed view. Reuse the same product page, viewport dimensions, browser zoom, and capture target for every market.
- Open the relevant market or currency preview. Use the store’s market preview or customer-facing country or currency selector. The available choices depend on how the store is configured.
- Wait for the page to finish rendering. Check the amount and its currency code or symbol on the page. If prices load dynamically, wait until they have updated before capturing.
- Capture the same region each time. Choose viewport, element, or full-page capture according to what you need to compare.
- Save and label each image. Include the market, currency, date, and viewport in the filename, then compare images made under the same browser and operating conditions.
- Verify checkout separately if the charge currency matters. Do not infer the transaction currency from the product-page screenshot alone.
Previewing currencies on Shopify
Shopify Help Center says, “To sell in multiple currencies, you need to use Shopify Payments in your online store and activate international sales tools.” Those prerequisites apply to selling in multiple currencies on Shopify; they are not a universal requirement for other ecommerce platforms. For a store owner checking storefront presentation, Shopify Help Center describes selecting a market in the admin and choosing to view the online store to preview prices in that market. After enabling multiple currencies, check the customer experience and any apps that display monetary values: Shopify warns that apps may not work correctly with multiple currencies. Follow the current Shopify market pricing and preview instructions.
For a theme implementation, Shopify Developers document a country selector in a localization form using the country_code input. The selected country and available countries are exposed through Shopify’s localization object; the documentation suggests showing the selector only when more than one country is available. Currency selectors on WooCommerce product pages
WooCommerce’s Currency Switcher documentation describes a selector on product pages that lets customers preview prices in other currencies and can be placed above or below the Add to Cart button. See the WooCommerce Currency Switcher documentation.

Choose a capture method
Browser controls for a one-off comparison
For a small number of images, use screenshot controls available in your browser or operating system. Keep the browser window and page framing the same between captures. The exact controls vary by browser and operating system, so use the option available in your setup rather than assuming a particular shortcut.
Playwright for repeatable captures
For recurring checks or multiple markets, browser automation can capture a viewport, a selected element, or the full scrollable page. Playwright documents these screenshot options and the fullPage setting in its screenshot guide and Page screenshot API reference. The code below captures the current page after you have opened the desired market; selecting or authenticating into a market is store-specific and is not automated here.

Control rendering differences
Playwright notes that rendering can vary with the operating system, browser version, browser settings, hardware, and headless mode. Use the same environment for each capture when visual differences matter; otherwise, rendering changes can be mistaken for currency-related changes. See Playwright’s visual comparison guidance.

Displayed price and checkout currency can differ
A screenshot is evidence of what the product page displayed at capture time. It does not prove the currency in which an order will transact. BigCommerce documents a display-only currency option where the storefront can show a converted amount while the order transacts in the store’s default currency. If the actual charge matters, inspect checkout or the store’s currency settings as well as the product page. See BigCommerce’s currency guidance.

Troubleshooting currency screenshots
- The currency did not change: Confirm the store has multi-currency features enabled and that you selected a market or currency the store supports. On Shopify, the multi-currency prerequisites include Shopify Payments and international sales tools.
- The amount is wrong or inconsistent: Wait for dynamic content to update, then inspect the displayed currency code as well as the symbol. On Shopify, check apps and customizations that show monetary values, since they may not handle multiple currencies correctly.
- The screenshots do not line up: Check that the viewport, zoom, browser, and capture target match. Use the same selector for element captures and the same full-page setting for page captures.
- The screenshot shows one currency but checkout uses another: Treat display currency and transactional currency as separate questions; verify the checkout flow or platform settings.
- Automated capture fails or misses content: Review the page URL, wait condition, and element selector. A page that continues loading network activity may not settle at
networkidle; use an appropriate wait for the content you need and confirm it is visible before capturing.
