Use a loop that captures the current results, clicks the site’s next-page control, waits for an observable change, and repeats until the site indicates there are no more pages. The essential detail is synchronization: a click can finish before JavaScript has updated the results, so wait for a page marker, URL, result identifier, or replaced results element—not merely for the click to return.
Choose what each screenshot should contain
Selenium can capture the current browsing context or a specific element. Use a driver screenshot when you want the visible page, including surrounding navigation and status information. Use a results-element screenshot when you need only the search results. The generic screenshot APIs do not promise a uniformly supported, arbitrarily tall full-document image across browsers; if that is required, verify the browser and driver’s support.

For consistent dimensions, set the browser window size before starting the loop and keep it unchanged. Selenium’s screenshot and window-interaction APIs are documented in the WebDriver windows and interactions documentation.
Build a reliable pagination loop in Python
Install Selenium with python -m pip install selenium, configure a browser and its WebDriver, and inspect the target site to identify its results selector, next control, and final-page signal. The selectors below are examples only; they are not universal locators. This pattern captures the whole current browsing context as a PNG for each page.

- Wait until the current results are visible.
- Save the screenshot with a unique, zero-padded page number.
- Check the site’s terminal condition before clicking next.
- Click the next control and wait for a meaningful state change.
- Repeat, reacquiring elements after every transition.

driver.quit()The loop checks both Selenium’s enabled state and an aria-disabled value. Replace this with the target site’s actual last-page condition: some sites disable the next button, some expose a current-page label, and others change the URL or result content. An enabled next button is not proof that another page exists, and some interfaces do not replace the results container after a click.

Wait for the change your site actually makes
EC.staleness_of(results) is appropriate only when pagination removes or replaces that element. For in-place updates, capture the current page marker or a stable result identifier before clicking, then wait until its value changes. For URL-driven pagination, wait for the URL to change. Selenium’s waiting strategies explain why page readiness alone does not guarantee that JavaScript-rendered content has finished updating, and provide explicit expected conditions for waiting on observable states.
Prefer explicit waits tied to the state you need. Selenium warns that mixing implicit and explicit waits can produce unpredictable wait times. Dynamic-page timing races are a common source of flaky automation.

Capture only the results element
To save just the result region, replace the driver screenshot line with:
results.screenshot(f"screenshots/results-{page_number:03}.png")Keep locating the results element inside the loop. After a page transition, Selenium may no longer be able to use references to elements from the old DOM.

Adapt the workflow to the page structure
Results inside an iframe
Switch into the relevant frame before locating the results or pagination controls. Selenium starts in the top-level document; elements inside an iframe are not available there. For a known frame selector:

After switching, use selectors that belong to the frame’s document. Switch back with driver.switch_to.default_content() if later work needs the top-level page. See Selenium’s frame interaction documentation.

Numbered pagination or infinite scroll
For numbered links, click the next page number or the site’s next-page control and wait for its page indicator or results to change. For infinite scroll, the interaction is different: scroll to load more results and wait for the result count or last item to change before capturing. Do not assume a next-button loop applies to either interface without checking how it advances.
One tall image versus one image per page state
The loop above saves one screenshot for each paginated state. That is different from making one tall image of the full document. Selenium’s generic screenshot methods capture the current browsing context or a particular element; the Firefox-specific Python API documents a full-document screenshot method, but availability is driver-specific. Confirm support for your chosen browser and driver rather than assuming save_screenshot captures an arbitrarily tall page.
Troubleshoot missed pages and failed captures
- The screenshot shows old results: the click returned before the application updated. Wait for a page number, URL, result identifier, or other state that changes on this site.
- The wait for staleness times out: the site may update results in place instead of replacing the container. Wait for a changed marker or result identifier instead.
- A stored element reference raises a stale-element error: the DOM was rebuilt. Re-find the results element and next control after the transition.
- The next control cannot be clicked: check whether it is displayed, enabled, and unobscured. A hidden control, overlay, or consent prompt may prevent interaction; inspect the current page before retrying.
- No results or controls can be located: check whether they are in an iframe and switch into it. Also verify the selectors against the live DOM.
- The loop never ends: use the site’s real terminal signal and retain a defensive maximum page count. If a wait times out, inspect the current URL, screenshot, and DOM state before revising the condition; do not blindly retry clicks.
- A challenge or access limit appears: treat consent, authentication, bot checks, and usage limits as distinct page states. Follow the site’s permitted access and terms rather than capturing the challenge as if it were a result page.
