PageCrawl.io’s documented way to inspect a page behind a login is to configure its login authentication for monitoring, then run Test the login. The test signs in and shows a screenshot of where the session ended up. It is a diagnostic check of the login setup—not a documented, general-purpose workflow for downloading arbitrary screenshots.
What PageCrawl’s login screenshot shows
PageCrawl documents Website Logins as part of monitoring protected pages. During Test the login, it reports the sign-in steps and provides a screenshot of the resulting location. If authentication fails, that screenshot can reveal that you are still on the sign-in page rather than viewing the protected destination. The feature is available on paid plans. See the PageCrawl Help Center.
The test screenshot is evidence about where the login flow landed. The documentation does not establish a separate arbitrary screenshot-download service or promise a permanent screenshot archive.

Configure a form-based login for monitoring
- Open Website Logins. In PageCrawl, choose Add New.
- Enter the login page address. PageCrawl attempts to detect the username field, password field, and submit button. If it misses a field, choose Pick the fields on the page and select the correct element. Check the selector result: it should match one element, not several or none.
- Provide authorized credentials. Enter credentials for an account permitted to access the page. Do not use an account you are not authorized to use for monitoring.
- Add pre-login steps if needed. If the form is hidden until a cookie notice is accepted, a sign-in link is selected, or another interaction occurs, configure that action under Pre-login steps.
- Run Test the login. Review the step-by-step result and inspect the screenshot to confirm the session reached the expected location.
- Set a Login check. Choose text or content that appears only after successful sign-in—for example, an account name or a Sign out link. Do not use text shared by both signed-in and signed-out pages. PageCrawl can flag a failed check as Login verification failed, rather than presenting it as an ordinary content change.
- Add the protected page as a monitor. In the monitor settings, select the matching configuration under Login Authentication.
Choose the right authentication path

Basic Auth is a separate setup from Website Logins; entering credentials in the form-based login configuration is not the documented method for a Basic Auth prompt. The setup details are in the PageCrawl Help Center.

Two-factor authentication and session reuse
The Help Center documents authenticator-app TOTP and emailed one-time codes. For TOTP, the setup uses an authenticator secret or an otpauth:// link. For emailed codes, PageCrawl can receive a forwarded code at a generated address or use the account email configured for that purpose.
- Authenticator-app TOTP: The Help Center says this works on any paid plan, including Standard.
- Emailed codes: Delivery may take long enough to exceed the tighter Standard per-check time budget. PageCrawl recommends Enterprise or Ultimate for emailed-code flows. Confirm current plan entitlements with PageCrawl before choosing a plan, because they can change.
- Unsupported methods: The Help Center says SMS codes and physical security keys are not supported.
PageCrawl’s official blog describes browser actions being performed before opening and checking the target URL, with a signed-in session reused between checks until it expires. That is the vendor’s explanation of its monitoring flow, not independent testing. The code step therefore occurs at initial sign-in or when the session expires, rather than at every check, as described in the PageCrawl blog.

Troubleshoot a failed login test

These are PageCrawl’s documented troubleshooting directions, not a guarantee that every identity provider, challenge, or login flow is supported. Consult the Help Center if the site’s flow cannot be represented by the available actions.

PageCrawl’s Help Center says the same login configuration can be selected for authenticated PDF, Excel, CSV, and Word files. It also allows multiple login configurations for different sites, so a monitor can use the credentials appropriate to its target.
