Open the exact product page, wait until its stock status and product details appear, then save a screenshot that shows the status clearly. Use a full-page capture for context and, if the stock message is small or far down the page, a second focused capture. Keep the original image: a screenshot records what appeared in your browser, but does not independently authenticate the website’s stock state.
Choose what the screenshot needs to show
Use a full-page screenshot when surrounding details—such as the product name, price, or page layout—help identify the listing. A focused screenshot of the stock message is easier to read, but may leave out useful context. If both readability and context matter, save both images.
- Full page: captures content below the fold, though a very long page may make small text hard to read at ordinary display size.
- Visible area: captures the browser’s current view; it may omit details farther down the page.
- Element: focuses on a particular page element, which can make a small stock message easier to inspect.
If the product has selectable variants, choose the specific variant whose stock status you want to record before capturing. Retailers may represent variants differently, so check the page itself rather than assuming the displayed status applies to every size, color, or configuration.
Capture the page in Firefox
Use the Developer Tools screenshot button
- Open the product’s exact page and wait for the product details and stock message to load.
- Open Firefox Developer Tools and select its settings. Under Available Toolbox Buttons, enable the screenshot button if it is not already shown.
- Use the screenshot button to capture the entire page. Firefox saves the image in the browser’s Downloads directory. Mozilla documents full-page and single-element captures in its Firefox Source Docs screenshot guide.
Use the Web Console :screenshot helper
Firefox’s :screenshot helper supports options including --fullpage, --filename, and --delay. For example, after opening the product page, enter this in the Web Console:

:screenshot --fullpage --filename=product-out-of-stock.pngTo allow time for a state to appear after a wait or interaction, specify a delay, for example:
:screenshot --fullpage --delay=3000 --filename=product-out-of-stock-after-wait.pngUse a distinct filename for each capture. Saving another screenshot to the same filename overwrites the earlier file. For a focused image, Firefox Developer Tools can capture an element; Firefox Support also describes full-page and visible-area captures and saving the image to the configured downloads folder: Firefox screenshots support.

Capture a full page in Microsoft Edge
- Open the product page and wait until the relevant status and details are visible.
- Open Edge Web Capture and choose Capture full page.
- Save the resulting image and check that the stock message is readable.

- Preserve the unedited original image.
- If the context matters, note the page address, capture time and time zone, selected variant, and browser used.
- Check the saved image at a readable size. A full-page capture may contain the message but render it too small to inspect easily; add a focused capture if needed.
These notes help explain what you captured, but they do not authenticate the image independently. A screenshot shows the page as it appeared in that browser capture; it does not establish that every visitor saw the same status or that the image meets a legal evidentiary standard.

Troubleshoot common capture problems
The stock message is missing
Wait for the page to finish loading and confirm the relevant variant is selected. If the status appears only after an interaction or delay, use Firefox’s --delay option or capture after the message appears. Browser capture behavior can vary by page; do not assume every interactive or lazy-loaded element will render in every screenshot.
The text is too small to read
Save a focused image of the stock message or its containing element in addition to the full-page image. Keep the full-page version when identifying context matters.

The earlier screenshot disappeared
Check whether a later capture reused its filename. Firefox’s :screenshot helper overwrites an earlier file when saved under the same name; use a new filename for each version.
The full-page option is unavailable
In Firefox, enable the screenshot button under Developer Tools settings in Available Toolbox Buttons, or use the Web Console helper. In Edge, Web Capture availability can depend on device, market, and browser version.
