Use a browser automation MCP server to open the news page, choose its English or Hindi presentation on the publisher’s site, inspect the page with an accessibility snapshot, and capture the visible screen, one element, or the full page. This guide uses Playwright MCP. It requires Node.js 20 or newer and an MCP client.
What you need
- Node.js 20 or newer. Check the Playwright MCP setup guide for current prerequisites and client configuration: Playwright MCP.
- An MCP client that can connect to a server launched with
npx @playwright/mcp@latest. The exact configuration file and placement vary by client; follow that client’s MCP setup instructions.
Playwright MCP exposes browser automation through the Model Context Protocol. It uses accessibility snapshots to represent page structure and provide references for interacting with controls.
Set up Playwright MCP in your MCP client
- Install Node.js 20 or newer if it is not already installed.
- Open your MCP client’s instructions for adding a server and use the Playwright MCP configuration shown in the official getting-started guide. Its standard launch command is
npx @playwright/mcp@latest; use the configuration format and location required by your client. - Restart or reload the client if its instructions require it, then confirm that the Playwright browser tools are available in the conversation.
Playwright also documents browser_run_code_unsafe as equivalent to remote code execution. Do not enable it unless the MCP client and code are trusted; the screenshot workflow below does not require it.
Open the page and select English or Hindi
- In your MCP client, ask the connected browser to navigate to the specific Indian news article or page you want to capture. Use the publisher’s own website and the page URL you intend to document.
- Ask the browser to inspect the page with
browser_snapshot. Read the accessible text and structure to locate the publisher’s language control, if one is available. - Use the page’s own navigation or language control to select English or Hindi. Publishers do not share a verified, universal language-switch control or URL pattern, so choose the version offered by that particular site rather than assuming a common switch.
- Take another snapshot after changing the language. Check its accessible text and page structure to confirm the selected presentation before capturing the image.
A snapshot is useful for identifying controls and interacting with them; it is not a visual screenshot. Playwright’s documentation puts it plainly: “Screenshots are for looking at, not for acting on — use browser_snapshot to get refs to interact with.” See Playwright MCP screenshots.

Capture the screenshot
Once the intended language and page are visible, ask the MCP browser to use browser_take_screenshot. Choose the capture scope and image settings based on what the record needs:

| CSS-pixel scale | Consistent CSS-sized output | Use when dimensions should correspond to the page’s CSS pixels. |
| Device scale | Higher device-pixel resolution | Use when you need output at the device’s pixel scale. |
For example, ask: “Take a full-page screenshot of the current article in PNG format and save it as article.png.” Adapt the requested scope, format, and filename to your needs. If you omit a filename, Playwright returns the image inline; with a filename, it saves the image to the output directory. See the screenshot tool reference for current argument details.

Verify the result
- Look at the returned image, not just the browser’s textual snapshot.
- Confirm the image shows the intended publisher page and language, rather than a landing page, loading screen, or another version.
- For a full-page capture, check that the expected page content appears beyond the initial viewport.
- If the screenshot is meant to document a particular state, verify that state is visible in the image before saving or sharing it.
If a language control or page element is hard to find
Start with browser_snapshot and its accessible text and references; this is the standard interaction method for ordinary web pages. If a control is visible but missing from the accessibility tree, Playwright’s optional vision mode offers coordinate-based tools for visual interaction. Enable and use it according to the Playwright MCP vision mode guide. A screenshot can show what is on screen, but use the snapshot or optional vision tools to perform interactions.
