For one long webpage or application view, use Snagit’s All-in-One capture and click the orange scrolling arrow. Snagit can follow content vertically or horizontally beyond the visible screen, then open the result in Snagit Editor for review and saving. A PDF opened in a reader is different: TechSmith documents printing it to Snagit Printer when the reader’s scrollbars are not detected. Snagit’s current guidance does not establish a universal workflow for combining unrelated pages into one multi-page document, so choose the output you actually need before capturing.
Decide what “multiple pages” means
The phrase can describe three different jobs. Selecting the wrong workflow can leave you with a stitched image when you needed a real PDF, or with only one page when you expected several independent URLs.

Older Snagit 11 help described a “Multiple Page PDF Document” path using Image capture and Scrolling Window. That documentation is historical; do not treat its labels or output steps as current instructions without checking your installed edition.
Capture a long webpage or application view
- Open Snagit and select All-in-One capture. Use the capture controls rather than a normal region-only image capture.
- Open the page or application content. Browsers covered by TechSmith’s current feature guidance include Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Compatibility can still vary by page structure and application.
- Start the capture. Position the pointer over the content until Snagit shows the orange scrolling arrows.
- Choose a direction. Click the down arrow for a tall page or the side arrow for content that extends horizontally. TechSmith Support describes scrolling capture as working “vertically and horizontally.”
- Let the page move steadily. Avoid jumping around or changing direction while Snagit is assembling the capture. Scroll slowly enough to let dynamic content render.
- Finish at the end of the content. When the full area has passed, stop the capture. The result opens in Snagit Editor.
- Inspect before exporting. Check the top, bottom, seams, images and interactive areas. Copy the image, save it, or download it from Snagit Editor in the format you require.
Dynamic pages and lazy-loaded images
A page may load images, advertisements or sections only after you reach them. Scrolling slowly gives those elements time to appear, but it does not guarantee that every script behaves consistently. Review the finished capture rather than assuming that a successful completion message means every section rendered correctly.

Horizontal scrolling
Wide tables, dashboards and canvases can be captured with the horizontal scrolling arrow. Exclude unnecessary margins and make the application window as large as practical first. If Snagit cannot identify a single horizontal scroll area, use the manual method below.
Use manual Scrolling Capture when automatic scrolling fails
TechSmith recommends manual Scrolling Capture (called Panoramic Capture in older versions and available in Snagit 13 or later) when automatic detection cannot follow the page. Manual mode gives you control over the selected region and the direction of movement.
- Open the page or application and enlarge its window.
- Start the manual Scrolling Capture and select only the content area you need.
- Exclude the scrollbar and unnecessary margins from the selection. Floating toolbars should be moved or hidden.
- Scroll steadily in one direction. Do not zigzag, and avoid changing zoom while the capture is in progress.
- Stop after the final section appears, then inspect the assembled image in Snagit Editor.
Parallax-heavy sites, animated layouts and pages with several independently scrolling panels can be difficult to join accurately. In those cases, capture a smaller region, use a different browser, or take separate region captures that you can review individually.

Capture a PDF opened in a reader
Snagit’s ordinary All-in-One scrolling method may not detect the scrollbar used by a PDF reader. TechSmith’s documented workaround is to print the PDF through Snagit Printer:

- Set the printer destination to Snagit Printer.
- Send the print job and open the resulting capture in Snagit Editor.
- Edit it like an image, then save it in a supported format.
This is a PDF-reader workaround, not the same operation as scrolling a webpage. If you require a searchable, multi-page PDF with independent pages, verify what your installed Snagit version and PDF reader produce before committing to a production workflow.
Can Snagit combine separate pages into one multi-page document?
For several unrelated webpages, Snagit’s current scrolling feature is not documented as a batch URL collector or as a guaranteed multi-page document builder. Capture each URL independently if you need separate evidence, then assemble the files with a document tool that supports the exact PDF or image format you require. Do not rely on the old Snagit 11 “Multiple Page PDF Document” help as proof that the same controls exist today.

If your requirement is simply one continuous view—such as an entire article, dashboard or wide report—use one scrolling capture instead of taking many screen-sized shots and trying to align them manually.
Reliability checklist before you capture
- Set browser zoom to 100% while troubleshooting; unusual zoom can change scroll geometry.
- Maximize the browser or application window and remove floating toolbars.
- Use a private or incognito window to rule out browser extensions as the cause of a failure.
- Try another supported browser if the page structure behaves differently.
- Scroll in one direction at a controlled speed, especially on pages with lazy-loaded content.
- Save the original capture before heavy annotation so you can recover if an edit goes wrong.
- Check the bottom and far edge of the result for clipped content, duplicated sections and blank gaps.
Troubleshooting by symptom

Will scrolling capture preserve links and selectable text?
Snagit’s scrolling result is an image capture, so links and text are not preserved as live document elements. If you need searchable or interactive output, keep the original webpage or PDF alongside the image and choose a document workflow that supports that requirement.

Why does a page with one visible scrollbar still fail?
The page may contain nested scrollable panels, an overlay, an extension or a security utility that prevents Snagit from identifying the intended region. Manual Scrolling Capture lets you select the correct area instead of relying on automatic detection.
Can I capture a page that scrolls both vertically and horizontally?
Yes, Snagit documents scrolling capture in both directions, but capture one direction at a time and inspect the edges. Very wide, animated or parallax layouts may require smaller manual captures for reliable alignment.
