To capture content below the fold on a GST portal page, use Chrome DevTools’ full-page screenshot command, then convert the saved image to PDF. For a formal return or record, use the GST workflow’s own PDF or data download when available; a screenshot PDF is a visual record, not an official portal-generated document.
Choose the right kind of PDF first
A full-page screenshot preserves a visual rendering of the page, including its visible layout, but the saved image generally does not contain searchable or selectable page text. Browser print-to-PDF creates a document-style output that may paginate or reflow the page and may omit parts of the interface. Results can vary across GST workflows and logged-in pages.
If the page offers an official PDF or data export for a return, statement, or formal record, prefer that. Use a screenshot to document what appeared on screen or to show a portal problem—not as a filing artifact or transaction receipt unless that specific GST workflow identifies it as one.
| Method | Best suited to | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| GST portal PDF or data download | A formal return, statement, or portal record | Use the portal’s own workflow and confirm the downloaded file is the record you need. |
| Chrome full-page screenshot, then convert to PDF | A visual record of the whole page, including content below the viewport | Check the image for missing sections, cropping, and legibility in the resulting PDF. |
| Chrome print-to-PDF | A document-style output where selectable text or pagination is useful | Inspect page breaks and confirm important interface details were not omitted or rearranged. |
Capture the full GST page in Chrome
- Open the relevant GST portal page in Chrome and wait for the content you need to appear. If the page loads sections as you scroll, scroll through it once so below-the-fold content has a chance to load.
- Open DevTools. One option is to right-click the page and choose Inspect.
- Open the DevTools Command Menu with Ctrl+Shift+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+P on Mac. See Chrome’s Command Menu documentation.
- Type screenshot and select the full-page screenshot action when it appears. Chrome documents full-page capture as a DevTools screenshot method; the menu’s exact wording can vary with Chrome versions.
- Save the generated image. Open it in an image viewer or document editor that can create PDFs, or use an operating-system workflow that offers PDF output. Before sharing, open the PDF and check that the full page is present and legible at normal zoom.
For a selected portion rather than the entire page, Chrome’s Command Menu documentation describes Capture area screenshot: search for “screenshot,” choose that command, then drag over the area. It captures a selection, so it is not the right choice when you need content below the viewport. Chrome’s DevTools guide also describes full-page capture among its screenshot methods: 4 ways to capture screenshots with DevTools.

Convert the saved screenshot to PDF
The screenshot step creates an image, not a PDF. Convert that image using a PDF-capable image viewer, document editor, or built-in operating-system print or export workflow. The exact controls depend on your operating system and application, so check that the chosen option creates a PDF rather than printing to a physical printer.
- Open the saved image and choose the application’s PDF export or print-to-PDF option.
- Review page orientation and scaling. A very long page may become small on a standard sheet; splitting it into multiple PDF pages may improve readability but changes how the full-page image is presented.
- Open the finished PDF and verify the top, bottom, and any important details before sending it.
If you need selectable text, test Chrome’s print-to-PDF output instead and inspect its pagination. It may lay out the page differently from what you saw in the browser.

Use a screenshot for GST portal support
The official GST Self Service Portal is for lodging complaints about problems using the GST portal. It says taxpayers can upload screenshots of pages where they encountered an issue, check ticket progress and resolution comments, and receive relevant FAQs or user manual pages based on the selected category and subject. That makes a screenshot a useful attachment when describing a portal problem.
Before uploading or sharing an image, inspect the entire capture and redact personal or business information the support team does not need. Do not expose passwords, OTPs, or unrelated taxpayer data.

ScreenshotNeo can capture a page and return an image or PDF from one API request. Its cookie and consent handling accepts the banner as a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. It also provides an MCP server for AI agents, with tools including take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf. See ScreenshotNeo and its API documentation.
For an image capture, the API call is:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://selfservice.gstsystem.in/ -o shot.webp
This example requests an image; use the documented PDF options if you need a PDF response. Confirm the target page is accessible to the service: a URL that requires an authenticated browser session may not be capturable unless you configure the supported authentication inputs. Do not put taxpayer credentials or sensitive session data into a request unless you understand how they are handled.
ScreenshotNeo includes 1,000 screenshots per month on its free plan with no card required; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Sign up for ScreenshotNeo’s free plan.

Troubleshooting and checks
- The screenshot only shows the visible area: reopen the Command Menu, search for “screenshot,” and choose the full-page capture action rather than area capture. Confirm the action completed before converting the image.
- The bottom of the page is missing: wait for the page to finish loading and scroll through it once before capture if sections load on demand. Repeat the capture and compare the bottom edge.
- The screenshot is blank or incomplete: check that the portal page finished loading and that the content was visible before capture. For a logged-in page, confirm your session has not expired; sign in again through the portal if necessary, then recapture.
- The PDF is too small or hard to read: check the PDF conversion’s scaling and orientation, then inspect the image at normal zoom before sharing. A long page fitted onto one sheet may be less readable than a paginated print-to-PDF output.
- The PDF does not have selectable text: that is expected for an image-based screenshot PDF. Try print-to-PDF or an official portal download if text selection or a formal record matters.
- The print-to-PDF layout differs from the browser: print output can paginate or reflow a page. Use the full-page screenshot route when preserving the visual rendering is more important, and inspect either result before relying on it.
Privacy and reliability before sharing
A capture reflects what was rendered in that browser session at the time. It does not by itself establish that a return was filed or that a transaction was completed. Check the full image or PDF for missing content and sensitive details before attaching it to a support ticket or sending it elsewhere.
Chrome’s Command Menu labels and portal content can change as software and workflows are updated. If the command name differs, search for “screenshot” in the DevTools Command Menu and choose the full-page option; for a formal GST record, follow the current portal workflow for that record.
