For a campaign review, capture the landing page from top to bottom—not just the visible browser window—and keep the browser, viewport, and image scale consistent across versions. You can do this manually with Firefox Developer Tools or automate it with Playwright. Check the saved image to confirm that important content appears, especially content that loads after the initial page render.
Choose a full-page capture method
A full-page screenshot includes the page’s full scrollable area below the fold. Firefox Developer Tools provides a manual capture workflow, while Playwright can capture the page in a script. Choose the manual option for an occasional review and the scripted option when you need repeatable captures or an archive of campaign versions.
Capture manually with Firefox Developer Tools
Firefox documents both entire-page and single-element screenshots. To capture the landing page, enable the screenshot control in Developer Tools, then use the entire-page screenshot option. Firefox saves the image to the browser’s Downloads directory. The exact control steps are described in Firefox’s screenshot documentation.

Capture with Playwright
After navigating to the campaign URL in a Playwright page, call page.screenshot with fullPage: true. This runnable example uses JavaScript and saves the image to a versioned filename; install Playwright and configure its browser in your project before running it.

Make campaign comparisons repeatable
A screenshot only supports a fair visual comparison if the capture conditions are alike. Record and reuse the same browser and viewport settings for each variant. In Playwright, set the viewport explicitly as in the example; for manual captures, keep the browser window dimensions consistent.

Keep scale consistent
Playwright’s css scale produces one image pixel per CSS pixel. Device scale uses device pixels and can produce a larger image. Pick one scale and use it for every version in a comparison; switching scales can make images differ in pixel dimensions even when the page layout is unchanged. The options are documented in the Playwright screenshot API.
Name and document each capture
Use a distinct filename that identifies the campaign and version or date, following your team’s existing naming convention. In the review record, note the landing-page URL, capture time, browser, viewport, and campaign/version. These details help reviewers interpret the image; your team’s own policies should determine approval and retention requirements.
Inspect the image before sharing it
Open the saved image and verify that it reaches the bottom of the page and includes the sections relevant to the review. Full-page capture covers the scrollable page, but capture documentation does not guarantee that every delayed or dynamic element will appear in the expected state. If an important section is missing, check the live page and capture again after it has loaded into the intended review state.

- Confirm the top, middle, and bottom of the landing page are present.
- Check that campaign copy, imagery, and calls to action are readable at the chosen scale.
- Check that the filename identifies the correct campaign version and does not replace an earlier review image.
- Record the page URL and capture conditions alongside the artifact.

Troubleshoot common capture problems
The image stops at the visible viewport
The capture used a viewport screenshot rather than a full-page option. In Firefox, select the entire-page screenshot control; in Playwright, set fullPage: true.

Content is missing or appears in the wrong state
Some page elements load or change after navigation. Inspect the page in the browser and capture when it is in the state the campaign team intends to review. The cited screenshot documentation describes full-page coverage, not a guarantee that delayed content will be ready.

Check whether a new capture was saved using the same filename. Firefox documentation warns that a later capture to that filename overwrites the prior image. Use unique campaign/version names and preserve prior artifacts according to your organization’s policy.
Images have different pixel dimensions
For automated captures, check the screenshot scale. Playwright’s CSS scale uses CSS pixels; device scale uses device pixels and can create larger outputs. Keep the scale fixed across versions if image dimensions matter to the comparison.

Can I capture just one section of a landing page?
Yes. Firefox Developer Tools documents a separate screenshot workflow for a single page element; use that when the review is limited to one component rather than the entire page.
Does a full-page screenshot prove that every visitor saw the same content?
No. It records the page state captured in that browser session. The capture documentation does not establish visitor-specific behavior, campaign approval, or evidentiary requirements.
