Use await page.screenshot({ path: 'page.png', fullPage: true }) to capture a page’s full scrollable extent. For dynamic pages, first wait for the specific content the screenshot must show; if the page loads content as you scroll, scroll to those sections and verify they have appeared before capturing. The full-page option controls screenshot size, not whether your application has finished loading the content you need.
Capture the full scrollable page
After navigating to a page and waiting for its relevant content, call Playwright’s screenshot method with fullPage: true:

Wait for the content the screenshot needs
A successful navigation or a quiet network does not prove that an application has rendered the content you want. Choose a stable, page-specific locator that signals readiness, such as a results list, heading, image, or terminal marker, and wait for its expected state before capturing.

Playwright discourages using networkidle as a general testing readiness strategy; its Page API recommends web assertions to assess readiness instead. Network quiet and application readiness are different conditions. See the navigation documentation and screenshot API.
Handle content that loads as you scroll
Some pages fetch or render sections only after those sections approach the viewport. A full-page screenshot captures the page extent, but Playwright’s documentation does not promise that fullPage will trigger every site’s lazy-loading behavior. Visit the relevant sections deliberately, then wait for their expected content.

await page.screenshot({ path: 'page.png', fullPage: true });scrollIntoViewIfNeeded() brings a locator into view; it does not itself guarantee that a site’s loading mechanism has run or that data is ready. The selectors and content checks must reflect the target page. For pages with multiple lazy sections, scroll through the relevant sections and wait for each section’s expected content before taking the screenshot. See Locator.scrollIntoViewIfNeeded().
Define an endpoint for infinite feeds
An infinite feed may keep adding content as you scroll, so “the whole page” may have no useful fixed endpoint. Decide what the capture should include—for example, a known number of items or a terminal marker—and stop after that condition is reached. This is an application-specific capture rule, not a guarantee provided by Playwright’s screenshot option.

Choose between a direct capture and deliberate scrolling

Reduce visual variation when needed
Playwright’s screenshot API includes options such as animations: 'disabled', mask locators, and a screenshot style stylesheet. These can help produce more repeatable images by disabling animations or masking or restyling regions such as timestamps and ads. Use them only when changing or obscuring those regions is acceptable for the screenshot’s purpose. They do not wait for missing application data to load.

Troubleshoot incomplete or unstable captures
- The screenshot contains only the visible portion: Confirm the call includes
fullPage: true. - A section is missing even with
fullPage: true: If the site loads it on scroll, scroll to it and wait for a locator that confirms its content has appeared before capturing. - The screenshot is taken before results appear: Replace a generic navigation or timing wait with a locator that represents the required application state.
- A readiness wait never completes: Check that the locator matches the page, that the expected text or element is actually produced, and that the state you wait for is appropriate. Use a defined item count or terminal marker when the page is an infinite feed.
- Repeated screenshots differ because of movement or changing regions: Consider disabling animations or using a mask or screenshot stylesheet, provided that doing so is consistent with the image’s purpose.
