Use browser automation to capture each authorized insurance quote page after its results have loaded, then save a full-page screenshot with a consistent filename and timestamp. With Playwright, page.screenshot({ path, fullPage: true }) captures the page’s full scrollable content rather than only the visible viewport. Review each image for missing quote details and exposed personal information before sharing it.
What you need before capturing quotes
Make a list of the quote pages and page states you need, and use only pages and test or customer data you are authorized to access. Check each site’s terms and your organization’s policies before automating it; the available documentation does not establish that any particular insurer or aggregator permits automation. Keep the task to documentation: avoid triggering purchase, submission, or lead-sharing actions when you only need screenshots.
Install Playwright for your chosen language and configure a repeatable browser viewport before navigating. The example below uses Playwright’s JavaScript API. Keep the browser flow that reaches the quote results specific to the site and authorized scenario you are capturing; page paths and selectors vary.

Save full-page screenshots
Save this as capture-quotes.js. Supply authorized quote-page URLs as command-line arguments. The script opens each URL in a fresh page, waits for the page’s load event, and saves a full-page PNG. Replace the readiness check with a site-specific selector when you know which element indicates that quote results have rendered; a page load event alone does not guarantee that dynamic quote data is ready.
const { chromium } = require('playwright');
const path = require('node:path');
const fs = require('node:fs/promises');
function safeName(value) {
return value.replace(/[^a-z0-9_-]+/gi, '_').replace(/^_+|_+$/g, '').slice(0, 100) || 'quote';
}
(async () => {
const urls = process.argv.slice(2);
if (urls.length === 0) {
throw new Error('Pass one or more authorized quote-page URLs.');
}
await fs.mkdir('screenshots', { recursive: true });
const browser = await chromium.launch({ headless: true });
const context = await browser.newContext({
viewport: { width: 1440, height: 1000 },
deviceScaleFactor: 1
});
try {
for (let i = 0; i < urls.length; i++) {
const url = urls[i];
const page = await context.newPage();
try {
const response = await page.goto(url, { waitUntil: 'load', timeout: 60000 });
if (!response || !response.ok()) {
throw new Error(`Navigation failed${response ? ` with HTTP ${response.status()}` : ''}`);
}
// Prefer a site-specific readiness selector where available, for example:
// await page.locator('[data-testid="quote-results"]').waitFor({ state: 'visible', timeout: 30000 });
const timestamp = new Date().toISOString().replace(/[:.]/g, '-');
const host = safeName(new URL(url).hostname);
const filename = path.join('screenshots', `${String(i + 1).padStart(3, '0')}_${host}_${timestamp}.png`);
await page.screenshot({ path: filename, fullPage: true });
process.stdout.write(`Saved ${filename}n`);
} catch (error) {
process.stderr.write(`Failed ${url}: ${error.message}n`);
} finally {
await page.close();
}
}
} finally {
await context.close();
await browser.close();
}
})().catch(error => {
process.stderr.write(`${error.message}n`);
process.exitCode = 1;
});
Run it with URLs you are authorized to access:
node capture-quotes.js https://example.com/authorized-quote-page
For a real quote workflow that requires form entry or navigation, add only the steps and test data approved for that purpose. Wait for the results themselves—not just navigation—to appear before taking the screenshot. Playwright’s official Page API documents full-page screenshots, file output, masking, clipping, formats, and scale options.
Make a bulk capture set useful and comparable
Bulk means repeating a controlled capture for each quote scenario, not blindly saving whatever appears after navigation. Keep the viewport and scale fixed so page layouts can be compared. Use deterministic filenames that identify the provider, product category, scenario, and UTC capture time; keep any mapping to a real person in a separate, access-controlled location.
Rank #2
- Use a full-page image when the whole quote matters; capture a focused comparison element only if the target is not clipped or internally scrollable.
- Confirm the image shows the premium, policy term, eligibility or underwriting details, benefits, exclusions, limits, and conditions relevant to the comparison.
- Record failures rather than silently retaining blank pages, error states, or incomplete results.
- Inspect at least one long page and one dynamic page in a small dry run before processing the full set. Lazy-loaded content, sticky controls, and late-loading widgets can change what the image contains.
IRDAI’s older web-aggregator guidelines identify comparison information such as premiums, policy or premium term, cover amount, underwriting requirements, exclusions, limits, conditions, and key features. Treat that as historical context, not a current legal checklist; verify current rules and applicability before using it to define a compliance process.
Protect personal and health-related information
Quote pages can reveal identifying or health-related details. IRDAI materials discuss notices about sharing prospect details with insurers as well as confidentiality and security of prospect information. Capture only what the task requires, prefer synthetic data when possible, restrict access to saved images, and review the actual screenshot before distributing it.
Playwright supports locator masking for screenshots. For example, add a site-specific locator before capture:

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. A single request can capture a URL; its capture flow accepts cookie or consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before the shot. Each step can be turned off. Only clean shots are billed: bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.
For an authorized quote URL, this cURL request saves a WebP screenshot:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://example.com/authorized-quote-page -o quote.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for authentication and capture parameters. The service also supports full-page and element capture, waits, custom CSS and JavaScript, masking via hidden selectors, viewport and device settings, and bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call. Check the documentation for the exact options needed for a quote flow; do not use it to access pages or data without authorization.

- The screenshot shows a loading state or no quote. Navigation completion is not the same as quote readiness. Wait for a results selector or another reliable, visible signal; record a timeout as a failed capture rather than treating it as a completed quote.
- The bottom of the comparison is missing. Use
fullPage: trueand verify that the page actually extends normally. For an internally scrollable table, a full-page capture may not reveal content hidden inside the table; consider capturing the element or scrolling it deliberately and documenting the method. - Some images or sections are absent. Dynamic and lazy-loaded content may appear after the initial page load. Check the result visually and wait for the relevant content before capture; repeat a dry run where necessary.
- Personal data remains visible. The masking selector may not match the rendered field or may be too narrow. Inspect the saved image and correct the selector or use synthetic data before distributing it.
- A site blocks automation or returns an error. The available sources do not establish site-specific automation permission or compatibility. Stop rather than attempting to evade access controls; check the site’s terms and use an approved capture method.
What a screenshot can and cannot establish
An image documents what rendered at the capture time. It does not independently prove that the quote is still valid, that all quote conditions were displayed, or that the quote flow completed correctly. Preserve the capture time and scenario details alongside the image, and verify the underlying quote through the insurer or authorized source when a decision depends on its current terms.
IRDAI describes web aggregators as intermediaries that provide product information and price comparisons, and points to its 2017 web-aggregator regulations. Its official materials and later amendments should be checked for the current rules applicable to a particular workflow; this article is not legal advice. Frequently Asked Questions
Does a full-page screenshot include the entire scrollable quote page?
Playwright documents fullPage: true as capturing the full scrollable page rather than the visible viewport. Content hidden inside a separately scrollable widget may still require a targeted capture.
Can I use screenshots as proof that a quote is still valid?
No. A screenshot records the rendered page at capture time; it does not independently establish continuing validity or completeness.
