Stranger Than Heaven has not released yet, so its in-game photo mode, capture controls and scene-specific restrictions have not been confirmed. The announced platforms include PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Steam. Until the game is available, you can plan to use documented console or Steam capture tools where applicable; platform captures are not guaranteed to work in every scene.
Xbox lists January 15, 2027 as the release date. Check the Xbox Store listing for updates, since release details can change.
What is confirmed about capturing Stranger Than Heaven?
SEGA’s announcement names Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam and PlayStation 5 as platforms for Stranger Than Heaven: SEGA’s platform announcement. The official material reviewed does not confirm an in-game photo mode, a game-specific capture button, or restrictions on recording particular scenes. The instructions below are platform features, not confirmed features of the game itself.
Capture screenshots and clips on PS5
PlayStation’s capture tools start from the DualSense Create button. Sony documents these options in its PS5 gameplay capture guide.

- Press the DualSense Create button to open the Create menu.
- Choose Take Screenshot for a still image, Start New Recording to begin recording, or Save Recent Gameplay to preserve a moment that has already happened.
- For a new recording, stop it when you have the footage you want. Sony says a new recording can run for up to one hour. For recent gameplay, choose a segment from 15 seconds up to one hour.
Some PS5 content is blocked from capture and will not appear in clips. That is a general platform restriction; it does not establish which, if any, scenes in Stranger Than Heaven will be blocked.
Share, edit or export PS5 captures
Open the capture from the Recently created card or Media Gallery, select it and choose Share. Sony’s PS5 sharing guide documents sharing one video clip at a time or up to four screenshots at once. A video clip shared with a group is limited to three minutes.

- More editing: Sony points to Share Factory Studio for further editing.
- Keep a copy outside the console: Media Gallery supports copying captures to a USB drive. This is optional, not required to capture or share through the console.
Which sharing destinations are available can depend on account, region, software version and platform updates.
Record and share on Steam
Steam Game Recording offers background recording and recording on demand. Enable it at Steam > Settings > Game Recording, or open the in-game overlay and its Game Recording tab. Steam’s instructions are in its Game Recording guide.

- Choose Record in Background if you want recent gameplay available to clip, or Record on Demand when you want to control when recording starts.
- Use the timeline and clip controls to select the segment you want.
- Save the clip in Steam, export it as a video file, copy or transfer it to another signed-in device, or create a share link.
Background footage is temporary: when its allocated space fills, older footage can be overwritten. Save the segments you want to keep. Steam says its hosted share links expire after two days.
Steam Game Recording records gameplay from games played through the Steam Client; it does not capture the desktop or other programs. Steam does not promise that Stranger Than Heaven will have timeline markers or any other game-specific recording support.

What Xbox and Windows players can confirm now
The official Xbox listing names Xbox Series X|S and Windows 10/11, but the available official material here does not establish current Xbox or Windows capture steps, recording limits or app workflows. For that reason, no button sequence or recording duration is given. Check current Xbox Support guidance for your device before recording. The game’s eventual settings may also affect what can be captured.
