On a computer, open the page’s Print dialog and choose a PDF destination; on a phone, use the browser’s print or save-to-PDF flow. Use Print to create a document with selectable text, or a full-page capture when preserving the page’s appearance and complete scroll length matters more.
Choose the right way to save the page
“Capture a website to PDF” can mean two different things. A browser’s Print command lays the page out as document pages. That usually makes text selectable and searchable, but the result may not look exactly like the live site. A full-page screenshot preserves more of the page’s visual arrangement, but it is an image-based capture rather than a reflowed document.

Whichever method you choose, the PDF is a saved snapshot, not a working copy of the website. Interactive controls may not work as they do on the live page. If you may need to revisit or verify the original, save its URL alongside the PDF.
Save a webpage as a PDF on a computer
Microsoft Edge
- Open the webpage in Edge.
- Open Settings and more > Print, or press Ctrl+P on Windows or Command+P on macOS.
- In the print dialog, choose the PDF destination offered by your system and start the save or print action.
- Check the preview before saving. Open More settings to adjust the page range, margins, scale, headers and footers, or Background graphics.
- Choose where to save the file and give it a name you can recognize.
Edge’s preview is an important part of the process, not just a final confirmation screen. If the PDF is clipped, try a smaller scale or different margins. If the page’s colored panels or backgrounds are missing, enable Background graphics and check the preview again.

Firefox
- Open the page and choose the Firefox menu, then Print.
- In print preview, open Destination and choose Save to PDF.
- Review the preview, then save the file.
If the page contains material you do not want in the final document, Firefox’s print flow may not provide all the editing you need. Mozilla points to a print-edit extension for cases where the content needs editing before printing; check its current availability and compatibility before relying on it.
Save a webpage as a PDF on Android
Chrome
- Open the webpage in Chrome.
- Tap More > Share > Print.
- At the top of the print preview, select Save as PDF.
- Choose where to save the file and confirm.
Firefox
- Open the page and tap the three-dot menu.
- Tap Share, then choose Save as PDF.
- Tap Download. Firefox’s instructions say the completed file is stored in Downloads.
If the file is not where you expected, start by checking the browser’s Downloads area or the device’s Downloads folder. Menu labels and available destinations can vary with browser and device versions, so if a named option is missing, look for the equivalent print or save action in that browser’s current menu.
Save a webpage as a PDF on iPhone
Safari: save through Markup
- Open the webpage in Safari.
- Tap the Page Menu or Share button and choose Markup.
- Add annotations if needed, then tap Done.
- Choose Save File To, name the file, and save it in the desired location.
Firefox for iOS: capture the full page
When you need the whole scrollable page rather than a print-reflowed version, Firefox for iOS offers a full-page screenshot route:

- Take a screenshot using the iPhone’s button combination.
- Tap the screenshot thumbnail, then select Full Page.
- Tap Done and choose Save as PDF.
This method is useful when the page’s full visual length matters. It is different from printing the page into document pages, so choose based on whether fidelity to the scrollable page or selectable text is the priority.

A browser has to translate a webpage into a document or a captured image. A page designed for scrolling may not naturally fit a series of printed pages. Before saving, use the preview to check the parts most likely to change:
- Page breaks and clipped content: Try reducing scale, changing margins, or selecting only the page range you need.
- Missing color or background panels: In Edge, enable Background graphics in More settings and inspect the preview before saving.
- Headers, footers, or excess page furniture: Review the print controls and turn off headers or footers if they are unwanted and the dialog allows it.
- Ads, navigation, or popups in the way: In Edge, try Immersive Reader for a cleaner print route when the site supports it. A print-cleanup tool is another option, but check its current availability.
- A very long page: Prefer a supported full-page capture if preserving the entire visual page is more important than selectable text.
Use Edge Immersive Reader for a cleaner article
When a site supports Edge Immersive Reader, enter it using the address-bar icon or press F9, then print the simplified reading view. It can be a better starting point for an article crowded by navigation or other page elements. It is not available for every site, and the resulting PDF is a cleaned-up reading copy rather than an exact visual record of the original page.

Use a cleanup tool selectively
PrintFriendly is described as a browser extension and website for creating printable versions and removing unwanted page elements. Check that the service or extension is currently available for your browser before using it. A cleaned version may omit elements that are part of the original page, so use the unmodified page when retaining its appearance or context is important.
Why the PDF may differ from the live page
Print-to-PDF is not a pixel-for-pixel capture. It reflows a page into document pages and applies print settings such as scale, margins, page ranges and background graphics. That explains why content can shift, some colors can disappear, or a long page can break differently from what you see while scrolling.
A full-page screenshot takes a different approach: it captures the page’s appearance as an image. Edge’s Screenshot feature can capture a full webpage without scrolling, and Firefox for iOS provides the full-page screenshot-to-PDF route described above. A screenshot is the better fit when the layout itself is evidence or when you need a long visual record; print output is generally the more useful choice when you want text to read, select or search.

Neither route should be treated as proof that a dynamic page will remain interactive or unchanged. If an element’s state matters—such as a selected tab or expanded section—inspect the saved result and keep the source URL with it.

Keep the original URL with the PDF
For a one-off copy, a browser’s print dialog is usually the quickest route. Use its preview controls to fix layout issues before saving. When the task is to preserve the whole visual page, use a full-page capture supported by the browser instead. In either case, retain the original URL whenever context or later verification may matter.
