To capture a website at 1366×768, first decide whether you mean the laptop’s display resolution or the saved image’s pixel dimensions: they are not automatically the same. For a quick capture of what is visible, use Windows+Shift+S; for a webpage-only or full-page capture in Microsoft Edge, use Ctrl+Shift+S. If the file must be exactly 1366×768 pixels, check its dimensions after saving and crop or resize if necessary.

Choose what “1366×768” should describe

A Windows display resolution of 1366×768 describes the pixels available on the selected display. It does not guarantee that every screenshot will be saved at those dimensions. A snip is only as large as the selected area; browser-page captures exclude some browser chrome; and a full-page capture can be much taller than the visible screen. Windows scaling, browser zoom, and the capture method also affect the result.

If exact file dimensions are required, capture the intended content, then inspect the saved image’s width and height. Crop or resize it in an image editor if needed. Resizing can change how content appears, so preserve the intended framing when exact dimensions matter.

Set the Windows display resolution if it is available

  1. Open Start > Settings > System > Display.
  2. Select the laptop display if more than one display is listed.
  3. Open Display resolution and choose 1366 × 768 if it appears.
  4. Microsoft recommends the option marked Recommended. Not every laptop display offers 1366×768; using a resolution below the display’s native setting can make text less sharp or make the image appear small, bordered, or stretched. See Microsoft’s Windows resolution and layout guidance.

If 1366×768 is not listed, do not assume there is a supported way to force it. You can still make an image file at those dimensions by cropping or resizing a capture, but that does not change the display’s resolution.

Prepare the browser view

Open the website and arrange the window to show the content you want. In Edge, Ctrl+0 returns page zoom to its default level; Ctrl+Plus and Ctrl+Minus change zoom, and F11 toggles full-screen mode. Zoom and full-screen mode change the composition visible in a screen capture. Microsoft documents these and other browser accessibility features at Edge accessibility features.

Capture the screenshot with Windows or Edge

What you need Method What it captures
A selected visible area Press Windows+Shift+S, choose a rectangular snip, and drag over the area. The selected on-screen rectangle. It is copied to the clipboard and opens in Snipping Tool, where you can edit and save it.
The entire display Press Windows+PrtScn. The full display, saved in PicturesScreenshots. Some keyboards lack a PrtScn key; Microsoft documents Fn+Windows+Space as an alternative on such devices.
A selected webpage area in Edge In Edge, press Ctrl+Shift+S, choose Capture area, select the area, then review and save. The selected portion of the webpage.
The whole webpage, including content below the fold In Edge, press Ctrl+Shift+S, choose Capture full page, then review and save. The webpage beyond the visible screen. The image may be taller than 768 pixels.
A developer-controlled viewport or full-page page capture In Edge, open DevTools, then choose More options > Capture screenshot or Capture a full size screenshot. Device emulation can set a viewport for inspection. The current viewport or the whole page, depending on the capture command.

Microsoft’s Snipping Tool guidance describes it as a way to capture “all or part of your PC screen.” See Use Snipping Tool to capture screenshots. Edge’s webpage capture steps are described in Microsoft Edge’s screenshot guide. For device emulation and DevTools capture, see Microsoft Edge DevTools device emulation. Microsoft’s Print Screen shortcut guidance is at Keyboard shortcut for print screen.

Save and verify the image dimensions

  1. Save the snip or Edge capture to a known location.
  2. Open the saved image’s properties or inspect it in an image editor, and check its width and height in pixels.
  3. If the deliverable must be exactly 1366×768, crop or resize the saved image to those dimensions. Check that the crop retains the needed page content and that resizing has not made text or interface elements difficult to read.

Display resolution, scaling, browser chrome, selection boundaries, browser zoom, and full-page capture can all make the saved dimensions differ from 1366×768. The official capture instructions describe the available methods but do not guarantee that each mode automatically saves a file at exactly that size.

Troubleshooting

  • 1366×768 is missing from Display resolution: That resolution may not be offered for the selected display. Use an available setting, or capture and crop/resize the file if the output image—not the actual display mode—must be 1366×768.
  • The saved file is not 1366×768: Check whether you captured a selected rectangle, browser page, full display, or full page. Inspect the actual pixel dimensions and crop or resize as needed.
  • The full-page capture is taller than expected: That is normal for a page extending below the visible viewport. Use a screen-region or viewport capture if you need only the visible 1366×768 view.
  • The capture includes browser controls or desktop elements: Use Edge’s webpage capture for page content, or adjust the window and use full-screen mode before a screen capture.
  • PrtScn does not work on the keyboard: Use Windows+Shift+S for a selectable snip. On some keyboards without PrtScn, Microsoft documents Fn+Windows+Space as an alternative for capturing the screen.
  • The site content is too large or small in the capture: Adjust Edge zoom with Ctrl+Plus or Ctrl+Minus, or restore default zoom with Ctrl+0, then capture again.
