For an application record containing your ARN or appointment number, use Passport Seva’s own Print Application Receipt option. If you only need to preserve what another portal page shows, you can generally use your browser’s print-to-PDF or screenshot function, but that capture may not include dynamic or hidden content. You do not need to carry a printed receipt to the Passport Office for appointment proof: Passport Seva says an appointment SMS is accepted.
Choose the right record for your purpose

Get the official Passport Seva receipt

Open the official Passport Seva portal and sign in through the portal. Use the relevant saved or submitted application.

Find and select Print Application Receipt. The receipt contains the Application Reference Number (ARN) or appointment number, according to Passport Seva’s application instructions.

Save or print the receipt if you want it for your own records. Check that the identifiers and appointment details you need are visible before putting it away.

Passport Seva states: “Carrying printout of Application Receipt is no longer required. An SMS with your appointment details is also accepted as proof of appointment during your visit to Passport Office.” The fee-payment FAQ gives the same practical guidance. Follow any current instructions shown for your appointment, but do not assume a paper printout is mandatory based on the receipt option alone.
Save another Passport Seva page as a PDF or screenshot
The official pages reviewed describe the receipt and status workflows, not browser-specific steps for saving an arbitrary page. The following are general computer instructions; exact labels and shortcuts can vary by browser, device, and operating system.
Print or save to PDF

Open the page you need and wait for its visible content to finish loading. If it is a page that requires sign-in, keep the session open while you save it.

Use your browser’s print command, commonly available from its menu or through Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux and Command+P on macOS.

In the print dialog, choose a PDF destination such as Save as PDF if available, review the preview, and save the file. If the page is cut off, adjust layout or scale and check the preview again.

Open the saved PDF to confirm that the information you need is present and readable. A print preview is not proof that content hidden behind interaction or loaded only in a later session was captured.

Take a screenshot
Use your device’s built-in screenshot tool or your browser’s available capture option. A screenshot records the visible screen area unless the tool explicitly supports a full-page capture. For a long page, you may need multiple captures; check them for gaps and legibility.
Track the application if you need a current status
Use Passport Seva’s Track Application Status page rather than relying on an old screenshot for current status. The page requests the application type, file number, and date of birth. The official status guide says the file number is on the acknowledgement letter issued after submission at a Passport Seva Kendra (PSK). Use your own acknowledgement letter; do not treat identifiers shown in an illustrative example as your details.
Keep the record useful and private

Give the file a clear name with the capture date and a brief description, such as
2026-10-03-appointment-receipt.pdf. This is practical recordkeeping advice, not a Passport Seva requirement.Rank #4

Store it somewhere private that the applicant can access later. A PDF or screenshot may show a name, date of birth, file number, ARN, address, or other application details.

Before sharing a capture, check whether it exposes personal identifiers or account information. Avoid posting an unredacted record publicly.

For a changing status or appointment detail, return to the official portal rather than treating a saved capture as current.

When a receipt or page is missing

No receipt option visible: Check that you are signed in through the official portal and have opened the relevant application. If it remains unavailable, use Passport Seva’s listed information and assistance channels.

PDF is blank or incomplete: The page may not have finished loading, or some content may be dynamic or session-dependent. Reopen the page, wait for it to render, then use print preview and verify the saved file. A browser capture is not guaranteed to preserve every page state.

Status lookup does not work: Confirm that you are entering the application type, file number, and date of birth requested by the official status page. The file number should be taken from your own acknowledgement letter if available.

You still cannot find the information: Consult Passport Seva’s information and grievance guidance for its portal, National Call Centre, passport office contacts, and helpdesk channels.
