Press Windows + Print Screen to save the entire visible screen automatically, normally under Pictures > Screenshots. To capture a complete page that continues below the fold, open it in Microsoft Edge and choose Screenshot/Web Capture > Capture full page.

Capture part of a web page with Snipping Tool
Snipping Tool is the quickest choice when you need only a paragraph, image, chart, or other visible portion of a page. The Windows + Shift + S shortcut is documented for Windows 10 and Windows 11.
- Open the webpage and position the content you want to capture.
- Press Windows + Shift + S. The screen dims and the Snipping Tool controls appear.
- Choose Rectangle, Freeform, Window, or Full screen.
- Drag over the content, select the window, or select the full screen as appropriate. The result opens in Snipping Tool.
- Use Ctrl + C to copy it, or Ctrl + S to save it. Snipping Tool also provides annotation and sharing controls.
Rectangle mode
Choose Rectangle for a clean box around text, a product image, or a section of a page. Keep the browser at the zoom level that makes the required content readable before you drag.
Freeform mode
Choose Freeform when a rectangle would include unwanted material. Draw around the object or text with the pointer; the captured result follows that outline.

Window and Full screen modes
Window mode captures the browser window you select rather than an arbitrary rectangle. Full screen captures everything visible on the display. Neither mode automatically includes the part of a webpage that is below the current viewport.
Use a delay for menus and temporary states
Snipping Tool includes a delay from one to five seconds. Start the delay when you must open a menu, expand a control, or move a tooltip into position before the capture is taken.
Save a full-screen screenshot with the keyboard
Print Screen: copy the visible screen
Press Print Screen (also labeled PrtSc or PrtScn) to place a full-screen image on the clipboard. Open Paint, a document, or another image-capable application and press Ctrl + V to paste it, then save the pasted image.
Windows + Print Screen: save automatically
Press Windows + Print Screen when you want Windows to create a file without first pasting it elsewhere. HP’s guide places the resulting image in Pictures > Screenshots. Open File Explorer, select Pictures, and open the Screenshots folder.

HP keyboards use different legends and layouts. Some put Print Screen behind an Fn layer; the official guidance does not establish one Fn combination for every HP model. Check the legend printed on your keyboard and the manual for your exact model. If Print Screen appears to do nothing, first try pasting into Paint because the ordinary key is a clipboard action.

Capture an entire scrolling webpage in Microsoft Edge
A normal full-screen screenshot cannot include content that is below the visible screen. Edge’s Screenshot/Web Capture tool has a Capture full page command specifically for a complete scrolling webpage.
- Open the page in Microsoft Edge.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + S, or open Edge’s Screenshot/Web Capture command from the browser controls.
- Choose Capture full page.
- Review the resulting long image. Use Edge’s markup tools if needed.
- Choose the command to copy or save the capture.
Use this method for articles, documentation, receipts, or landing pages where the reader must see material below the fold. It is browser-dependent: the built-in full-page command described here is Edge’s workflow, while Snipping Tool and Print Screen operate at the Windows screen level.
Decide between clipboard output and a saved file
- Need to paste immediately? Use Print Screen or Snipping Tool and press Ctrl + C.
- Need a file without another application? Use Windows + Print Screen and check Pictures > Screenshots.
- Need to mark up the image? Let Snipping Tool open the result, then annotate before saving.
- Need the whole page? Use Edge’s Capture full page rather than a full-screen shortcut.
The capture scope and the output behavior are separate decisions: a full-screen image can still be clipboard-only, while a selected Snip can be saved after editing.

Nothing appears after pressing Print Screen
Print Screen is documented as a clipboard action. Open Paint or another image-capable app and press Ctrl + V. If there is still no image, verify that you pressed the key labeled Print Screen, PrtSc, or PrtScn and check whether your HP model requires its Fn layer.
The screenshot contains only what I can see
That is expected from Print Screen, Windows + Print Screen, and the visible-screen Snipping Tool mode. Scroll-page content requires Edge’s Screenshot/Web Capture command and Capture full page.

The Edge shortcut does not show Capture full page
Confirm that the page is open in Microsoft Edge, then open the browser’s Screenshot/Web Capture command directly instead of relying on the keyboard shortcut. Select Capture full page from that tool rather than a rectangular selection.
The capture starts too early
Use Snipping Tool’s one-to-five-second delay. Trigger the delay, open the menu or state you need, and allow the countdown to finish.
I cannot find the automatically saved image
Open File Explorer and check Pictures > Screenshots. If you used ordinary Print Screen instead, there is no automatic file to find until you paste the clipboard image into an application and save it.
The keyboard shortcut fails on my HP model
HP model layouts differ. Read the key legend, try the Fn layer indicated by that legend, and use Snipping Tool from the Windows interface if the hardware shortcut remains unavailable. The Windows capture tools themselves are the same across supported Windows 10 and Windows 11 installations.

- Identify the scope: selection, window, visible screen, or the entire scrolling page.
- Use Windows + Shift + S for a selection, Print Screen for clipboard-only full screen, or Windows + Print Screen for an automatic file.
- For a page extending below the fold, use Edge Screenshot/Web Capture and Capture full page.
- Check whether you need annotation, a delay, or a saved file before closing the capture.
