Open the relevant screen in the merchant app or dashboard provided by your acquiring bank or payment provider, set the reporting period and filters, then use your device’s screenshot feature. UPI does not have one universal merchant dashboard or menu path, so the exact screens depend on your provider.
Choose the right merchant dashboard view
Merchants access UPI through an acquiring bank or payment provider, which supplies the infrastructure and determines how the merchant account is set up. NPCI’s UPI FAQ says a merchant must partner with an acquiring bank to enable UPI. Sign in to the app or web dashboard that your business already uses.
Open the view that documents the business purpose: for example, transaction history, payment status, sales, or business performance. The India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) Merchant App is one provider-specific example that describes a dashboard overview of sales and business performance; its layout should not be assumed to match another provider’s app. See IPPB’s Merchant App information.
Prepare the record before capturing it
- Select the reporting period. Set the dates that matter for the reconciliation or record you are preparing.
- Apply relevant filters. Narrow the view to the transactions or status you need, if your provider offers those controls.
- Check the visible context. Make sure the business identity, date range, and relevant figures or transaction details are visible. These are practical documentation checks, not a universal format prescribed by NPCI.
- Decide whether one image is enough. If the information spans a long list, use scrolling capture if your device supports it, or capture separate sections so each remains readable.
Capture the screen on Android
Google’s general Android instructions are to open the screen you want and press Power + Volume Down at the same time. On some phones, you can instead hold Power and tap Screenshot. Controls vary by device maker; see Google’s instructions for taking a screenshot on Android.

On Android 12 and later, scrolling screenshots are supported on most screens that allow scrolling. After capture, review the preview and locate or edit the image in Photos or your device’s Gallery. If the dashboard contains more rows than fit onscreen, confirm that the scrolling capture includes the full intended range and that the text remains legible.
Keep and share the screenshot carefully
Treat dashboard captures as potentially sensitive financial records. NPCI notes that UPI apps receive bank account details in masked form and cannot see all details; this does not mean every dashboard screenshot is safe to share. IPPB’s merchant terms also restrict handling sensitive customer data outside bank-provided software. See NPCI’s UPI FAQ and IPPB’s merchant terms.

- Keep the original capture intact in appropriately access-controlled business storage.
- Before sending a copy to a wider audience, inspect it and redact details the recipient does not need. Keep the unredacted original separately when it is needed for internal reconciliation.
- Never capture or share UPI PINs, OTPs, passwords, or login credentials.
- Ask your acquiring bank, provider, accountant, or auditor what retention and audit requirements apply. The cited sources do not establish one universal screenshot retention period or redaction rule.
Troubleshoot common capture problems
The dashboard or menu does not match these steps
There is no universal UPI merchant dashboard interface. Confirm that you are signed into the correct bank or provider’s merchant app or portal, then use that provider’s support instructions. NPCI says merchants can raise a grievance or check UPI transaction status with their acquiring bank.

The screenshot misses transactions below the visible area
Try scrolling capture if your Android device offers it; Google says it works on Android 12 and later on most scrollable screens. If the option is unavailable or the capture is incomplete, capture multiple overlapping screens and retain enough date and business context to understand each section.

The text or figures are too small to verify
Return to the dashboard and capture a smaller section, or adjust the display zoom if the app allows it. Review the saved image at normal viewing size before treating it as adequate documentation.
A transaction is missing or its status is unclear
Check the reporting period and filters first. For a transaction issue or provider-specific status question, contact the acquiring bank; a screenshot records what the dashboard displayed but does not itself confirm settlement or resolve a payment discrepancy.
