To capture Marathi text with the website’s intended typeface, wait until the page has rendered the text, then wait for its fonts to finish loading before calling Puppeteer’s screenshot method. Also verify that the selected font actually contains the Marathi characters you need: document.fonts.ready confirms font loading has settled, but it does not guarantee the preferred font was selected or that every glyph is available.
Capture Marathi text after the page and fonts are ready
Use Page.screenshot() for a page capture or ElementHandle.screenshot() for a particular element. The important order is: navigate, wait for the page’s actual capture content, wait for fonts, and then capture. Puppeteer’s current screenshot guide documents these methods and navigation patterns: Puppeteer screenshots.
- Use the capture runtime. Record the Puppeteer and Chromium versions, operating system or container image, and how fonts are provided. Local and deployed environments can render fonts differently.
- Wait for navigation and the Marathi content. A navigation milestone such as
networkidle2can help, but use a page-specific selector or application signal to establish that the text you need is present. - Wait for font loading. After the text exists, await
document.fonts.ready. It resolves once font loading and related layout work have settled and no further font loads are needed; it is not a visual correctness test. - Capture. Save a page screenshot, or wait for the target element and capture just that region.
Runnable Puppeteer example
Install Puppeteer in your project with npm install puppeteer. Replace the URL and readiness selector with values for your site. This example waits for the page’s capture-ready signal before fonts and writes a PNG:

const puppeteer = require('puppeteer');
(async () => {
const browser = await puppeteer.launch({ headless: true });
try {
const page = await browser.newPage();
await page.goto('https://example.com/marathi-page', {
waitUntil: 'networkidle2',
});
await page.waitForSelector('[data-render-complete]');
await page.evaluate(() => document.fonts.ready);
await page.screenshot({ path: 'capture.png', fullPage: true });
} finally {
await browser.close();
}
})();
The selector must represent the content you intend to capture, not merely an early page shell. If the application inserts or updates the Marathi text after that selector appears, wait for the update and then await document.fonts.ready again.

Capture one element
For a specific region, wait for its selector and take the screenshot from the returned element handle:
const target = await page.waitForSelector('#marathi-content');
await page.evaluate(() => document.fonts.ready);
await target.screenshot({ path: 'marathi-content.png' });
Choose the selector that identifies the actual text-bearing element. Puppeteer’s element screenshot method is documented in its screenshot guide.
Check that the intended font can render the Marathi text
A settled font-loading state does not prove that CSS chose the intended family, that its web-font file loaded successfully, or that it covers every character in the page. Inspect the computed family and weight on the target element, check the browser’s font requests for failures, and confirm the face includes the specific Marathi characters—including conjuncts and diacritics—in your content.

Web-font delivery and loading behavior are browser-dependent. Google’s documentation explains that Chrome can show blank space for text using a web font until that font loads: Google Fonts technical considerations. For a candidate to evaluate, Google Fonts provides Noto Sans Devanagari. Test it with the actual page styling and content rather than assuming it is the correct visual or technical fit.
Diagnose missing, blank, or inconsistent glyphs
Text is blank or changes after capture
Check whether the intended web-font request completed before the screenshot. Ensure the browser can reach the font URL and wait for the text to exist before awaiting document.fonts.ready. A fixed sleep is not proof that the font has loaded.
Text appears, but glyphs are missing or look wrong
Inspect the target’s computed font family, weight, and style, then check the loaded font file and whether it covers the characters shown. A readiness wait cannot add missing glyphs or install a font that is absent from the runtime. Evaluate a Devanagari-capable face against the actual text and page design.

Local output is correct but deployed output is not
Compare the local and deployed Puppeteer and Chromium versions, operating system or container font inventory, font URL access, selected font weight, page readiness condition, and exact Marathi content. Historical Puppeteer issue reports describe font and fallback differences across environments, but they are examples of possible problems—not proof of a universal cause: Arabic font rendering issue and font fallback issue.
The site renders content client-side
Wait for the application’s own visual-ready selector or state before waiting for fonts. The font-loading promise cannot tell whether the desired application content has appeared. If that content changes later, wait for the change and await fonts again.
Make local and deployed captures comparable
When comparing a successful and unsuccessful capture, record and hold constant the conditions that can affect rendering:

- Successful delivery of the required web-font resources.
- The exact Marathi text, including conjuncts and diacritics.
- The page-ready condition, viewport, and screenshot target.
These checks narrow down whether the difference comes from timing, font selection, font delivery, or the runtime. A specific diagnosis requires observing the affected page and browser environment.

ScreenshotNeo can return a screenshot from one GET request. Its clean-shot steps accept cookie or consent banners and remove known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. For Marathi, still verify that the page’s chosen font and glyph coverage are correct—the capture service does not make a missing font or glyph available.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does document.fonts.ready guarantee Marathi glyphs will render correctly?
No. It signals that font loading and related layout have settled, but does not verify that the desired family was selected or that it contains every required glyph.
Is Noto Sans Devanagari guaranteed to fix a Puppeteer screenshot?
No. It is a candidate family to test against the page’s actual Marathi text and styling; the right font depends on the site and runtime.
