Safari on Mac does not document a built-in control for saving an entire page as one tall screenshot. To keep a webpage for offline use, choose File > Save As and save it as a Web Archive. If you need a visual PNG, JPEG, or PDF of the full page, use a compatible Safari extension or a screenshot service instead.
Choose the output you need
| Option | What it gives you | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Web Archive | A saved webpage with its graphics; links work while their destination pages remain available. | Keeping a page to revisit offline. |
| Page Source | The page’s HTML source, not a visual rendering. | Inspecting or retaining source markup. |
| Full-page screenshot | A visual image or PDF of the page. | Sharing, documenting, or filing how a page looked. |
Apple’s Safari User Guide says Safari can save an entire webpage, including its graphics and links, or just parts of it. Its documented Mac method is Save As, not a one-piece tall screenshot.
Save a webpage from Safari on your MacBook
- Open the webpage in Safari.
- From the menu bar, choose File > Save As.
- In the save dialog, select Web Archive if you want the page saved with its graphics.
- Choose a location and click Save.
A Web Archive is a webpage file, not a PNG screenshot. Its links can still open their destinations when those pages remain available. Some webpages may prevent Safari from saving items displayed on the page.
When Page Source is the right choice
Select Page Source in the Save As format menu only if you want the HTML source. It does not preserve the page as a visual screenshot or the complete rendered experience.

Capture a tall screenshot or PDF
If the deliverable must be a visual capture, look for a Safari extension that explicitly supports full-page screenshots. The India App Store listing for Page Screenshot for Safari advertises full-site capture and PNG, JPEG, or PDF export, including long pages captured as one or multiple screenshots. It is a third-party extension, not a built-in Safari feature.
Before installing, check the current India listing for availability and price, and confirm compatibility with the Safari and macOS versions on your MacBook. The surfaced version-history entry is from 2021, which does not establish current compatibility. Apple notes that Safari extensions can be found in the App Store’s dedicated Safari category: Safari for Mac.
