Use Playwright’s JavaScript Page API: navigate to the page, then call await page.screenshot({ path: 'screenshot.png', fullPage: true }). The fullPage option captures the full scrollable page rather than just the visible viewport. If you need locale-sensitive behavior, you can optionally set the browser context locale to ta-IN; this does not translate a page into Tamil.
Capture the full page with Playwright
This Node.js example writes a PNG file. The locale setting is optional: keep it when the site should behave as though the browser uses Tamil as spoken in India, or remove it if the page is already in Tamil and you only need an image.

Make sure the Tamil content is actually present
Playwright captures what the browser renders; it does not translate English page content into Tamil. A Tamil screenshot requires the page itself to display Tamil text. Setting locale: 'ta-IN' can affect locale-sensitive site behavior, but the site decides how it responds to that locale. For example, a site may use it to choose a language or format, but Playwright does not guarantee that it will.

If the page already displays Tamil and its locale does not matter, omit the context option:
const context = await browser.newContext();Context-level locale applies to pages created in that context. Playwright documents this setting in its Browser API.

Choose file output, image format, and scale
- Save directly to a file: Set
path, as in the example, for a straightforward image file. - Choose a format: Playwright supports PNG, JPEG, and WebP screenshot output. Set the screenshot
typeoption when you need a particular format; PNG is the default when the file extension does not indicate another supported type. - Choose pixel scaling: The
scaleoption controls whether output dimensions correspond to CSS pixels or device pixels. Use the Page API documentation for the current option details and defaults. - Return a buffer: Omit
pathto receive screenshot bytes from the call, which is useful when your script will process or upload the image instead of writing it directly.

A full-page capture sets the screenshot extent; it does not guarantee that every site-specific image or dynamic element has loaded or stopped changing. If the page lazy-loads images as you scroll, or adds content after navigation, scroll or interact with it before capturing and then inspect the resulting image.

waitUntil: 'networkidle' is used in the example as a navigation wait condition. It does not establish that all lazy resources or application-specific updates are complete. Where the site has a known readiness signal, wait for the relevant element or state before taking the screenshot.

- The screenshot only shows English: The screenshot call does not translate content. Use a page that serves Tamil or a site feature that switches its content language; set a locale only if the site uses it to choose locale-sensitive behavior.
- The image ends before all content appears: Confirm that
fullPage: trueis present in the Page API call, or--full-pagein the CLI command. If the missing material is lazy-loaded, scroll or interact with the page before capturing. - Images or text are missing or stale: The page may still be loading or updating after navigation. Wait for the site-specific content you need, then capture and inspect the saved output.
- The file is not where expected: Check the
pathvalue and the process’s working directory. Use an explicit path if the script must write to a particular location. - The output format or dimensions are unexpected: Check the screenshot
typeandscalesettings against the Page API.
