Sign in through the email link in the browser session you want to use, confirm that the correct member account and portal page are open, then capture the page with a full-page screenshot. In Playwright, use await page.screenshot({ path: 'member-page.png', fullPage: true });. Open the saved image and check it: capturing the whole scrollable page does not confirm that authentication succeeded or that every dynamic section finished loading.
Capture the member page after signing in
- Open the portal’s normal sign-in page and request an email sign-in link.
- Open the link in the browser session where you intend to view and capture the member page. If the email app opens another browser or device, the portal may ask you to authenticate again; behavior depends on the portal and its identity provider.
- Confirm that the intended account and exact page are visible. Wait for the content you need to appear, including any sections that load after the initial page render.
- Take a full-page screenshot using one of the methods below.
- Open the image and inspect its top, bottom, and important sections for missing content, clipping, or stale loading indicators.
- Store and share the image only in accordance with the portal’s rules for member information. Do not include or forward the one-time sign-in link.
Use Playwright for a repeatable full-page capture
Playwright’s full-page option captures the scrollable page as if it were displayed on a very tall screen. The documented API example is page.screenshot({ path: 'screenshot.png', fullPage: true }); in an async test or script, await the call:

The screenshot API does not complete an unknown portal’s login for you. Playwright also documents a CLI --full-page option, but the API is a direct fit when your workflow already has a browser page open.

Keep the login in the correct browser context
For a portal that requires a human to follow a magic link, complete that step in the browser context that will show the page. A script can capture an authenticated page only if that context has an active session and access to the intended content. Authentication setup varies by portal; the general screenshot documentation does not establish a way to bypass or automate an unknown login flow.

Account for content that loads dynamically
A full-page option expands the capture beyond the viewport, but it does not guarantee that lazy-loaded images, expanding panels, or other dynamic content have loaded. Wait for the specific content that matters, then inspect the saved file. If the portal only loads content as you scroll, scroll through the relevant sections before capturing or save separate section images if the full-page result is incomplete.
Use Puppeteer if it fits your project
Puppeteer also supports full-page screenshots through Page.screenshot() and its ScreenshotOptions.fullPage boolean. Set it to true and provide a path:

For a one-off capture without code
A browser’s built-in full-page capture feature or an extension may be more convenient for a single image. The exact menu path and extension privacy behavior vary, so verify the current browser instructions and review any extension’s permissions before using it on an authenticated portal. Use the same sequence: sign in, confirm the page, capture the full page, and inspect the saved image.
Magic-link behavior depends on the portal
“Magic link” describes a sign-in pattern, not one universal implementation. The portal’s provider determines how links work, whether a link can be completed on another device, and how long a session persists. Check that portal’s own instructions whenever the flow differs from the steps above.
Firebase-specific completion and safety details
Firebase is one example, not a basis for assuming an unnamed portal uses Firebase. Firebase’s web flow sends an email link and completes sign-in in the application. Its documented implementation checks the link with isSignInWithEmailLink and completes authentication with signInWithEmailLink.

For Firebase email-link sign-in, the address supplied at completion must match the address that received the link. If the link is opened on another device and the email is not available there, the app can ask the user to provide it again. Firebase also warns against putting the email address in redirect URL parameters and reusing it, because that can enable session injection; its guide recommends HTTPS in production. Invalid or expired codes can also cause sign-in failure. These are Firebase-specific details, not universal rules for every portal.
If you cannot find the Firebase sign-in email
Firebase notes that its default sign-in email template includes a timestamp in the subject and body to reduce the chance that multiple messages collapse into a thread that hides the link. This note applies to Firebase’s default template; other portals may use different email templates.

Troubleshoot common problems
- The portal asks you to sign in again: The magic link may have opened a different browser or device, or the portal may require another authentication step. Return to the portal’s normal sign-in flow in the browser session you plan to use and confirm the page is accessible before capturing.
- The screenshot shows a sign-in page instead of member content: The browser page may not have an active session, or the capture is targeting a different page. Check the visible page and account before running the screenshot call.
- The image ends early or misses a section: Confirm you used
fullPage: true, wait for the relevant content, and check whether the portal loads sections only when scrolled into view. Inspect the saved file rather than assuming a successful API call means the image is complete. - The screenshot contains a spinner or stale content: Wait for the portal’s meaningful content to finish loading before capturing. If it never settles, capture the sections separately or consult the portal’s support guidance.
- Firebase says the email link is invalid or expired: Request a new link through the portal and complete it with the matching email address. This applies to Firebase implementations; another provider may report or resolve link errors differently.
- You cannot find the sign-in link in email: Search the relevant message thread and check whether newer sign-in emails have been grouped with earlier ones. Firebase’s default template includes a timestamp, but other providers may not.
Protect member information in the saved image
A screenshot is a visual record, not a structured export of portal data and not proof that the correct account was open. Check for personal or confidential details before storing or sharing it, and follow the portal’s own policies on capture and distribution. Treat the one-time sign-in link as sensitive and do not include it in the screenshot workflow.
