To capture an entire webpage at a chosen viewport size in Chrome, open DevTools, turn on the device toolbar, set the dimensions in Responsive mode, then select More options → Capture a full size screenshot. The separate Capture screenshot command saves only the visible viewport.
Capture a full page at a custom viewport size
- Open the webpage in Chrome and open DevTools.
- In DevTools, select Toggle device toolbar.
- In the device toolbar’s Dimensions control, choose Responsive. Enter the width and height you want, or drag the viewport handles to resize it.
- Open the device toolbar’s More options menu.
- Select Capture a full size screenshot. Chrome saves an image of the whole page, including content outside the visible viewport.
Chrome’s official Device Mode documentation describes the full-size command and the Responsive viewport controls. The page’s length can make the resulting image much taller than the viewport dimensions you entered.
Choose the right screenshot command

Both commands are in the device toolbar’s More options menu. If the image stops at the visible screen area, check that you selected the full-size command rather than the regular screenshot command.

If you repeatedly capture pages using the same dimensions and device settings, you can add a custom device instead of re-entering them each time. In Device Mode’s device list, choose Edit and add a device with a name, width and height. Device pixel ratio, user-agent string and device type are optional fields. Chrome documents these settings in its Device Mode guide.

Understand what Chrome is simulating
Device Mode is a desktop or laptop simulation, not a physical phone. Chrome characterizes it as a “first-order approximation” of a mobile experience: the page code still runs on the desktop or laptop. A screenshot can show how a page responds to the selected viewport, but it does not prove how the page renders or performs on a real mobile device. Test on physical hardware when real-device behavior matters.
