You can cancel the cloud service that sends video to YouTube without deleting your YouTube channel. But canceling a provider subscription does not tell you whether its video feed will stop immediately or remain active through a paid-through date. Check the provider’s cancellation terms, and if you need the broadcast to stay live, verify a replacement feed in YouTube Studio before stopping the old one. Use YouTube’s END STREAM control only when you intend to end the viewer-facing broadcast.
“YouTube streaming service” can mean YouTube itself or, more often in a 24/7 setup, a separate cloud host that sends video to YouTube. The host subscription, the outgoing video feed, the YouTube broadcast, and the YouTube channel are separate things.
First, identify what you are canceling
A cloud host sends video to YouTube; YouTube presents that feed to viewers as a broadcast; your channel is the account and content destination. Canceling a host subscription is not the same as ending a broadcast or deleting a channel.
YouTube’s Live Streaming API distinguishes a live stream resource—the input through which the channel owner sends video—from a broadcast, which is how viewers see the stream. Its documentation also describes an auto-stop setting: when enabled, the broadcast may stop around one minute after the owner stops sending video. That behavior concerns the feed and broadcast lifecycle, not a third-party host’s billing policy. Google for Developers: LiveBroadcasts

Do not delete a YouTube stream resource as a way to cancel a provider. YouTube documents that a stream resource cannot be deleted while it is bound to a broadcast that has not completed. Google for Developers: LiveStreams: delete
How to cancel the cloud service without interrupting the broadcast
- Identify the biller and service. Check the receipt, account page, or payment statement to confirm whether the charge is for a cloud streaming host, YouTube, an app store, or a reseller. The cancellation menu and access rules depend on the actual biller.
- Check what cancellation does before confirming it. Look for the renewal cutoff, paid-through date, access end date, and any statement about when broadcast output stops. If it is unclear whether output will stop immediately, ask the provider or plan a handoff. No universal cancellation path or access window applies to unnamed providers.
- If viewers must not lose the stream, prepare a replacement first. Start the replacement source and check YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room to verify that the intended event is receiving video and is visible to viewers. Confirm the replacement against your actual account and event; a general provider guide cannot establish compatibility for every setup.
- Stop the old provider feed only after the replacement is verified. Use the old host’s dashboard and its own documented stop control. Do not assume that canceling a subscription is the same as stopping its feed, or that the feed will continue until the end of a billing period.
- End the YouTube broadcast only if that is your goal. A Google/YouTube production guide says, “To end the stream, click END STREAM and stop sending content from your encoder.” The guide recommends managing current, upcoming, and past streams in YouTube Studio. - Leave the channel account intact. If you only want to stop paying for the host, cancel that host subscription through its biller. Do not choose a YouTube channel-deletion option.
Provider-specific controls are not universal
OneStream Live provides a concrete example of why provider instructions must stay specific. Its help article, updated September 21, 2026, says an ongoing prerecorded stream can be stopped by opening Stream, choosing End Broadcast under Ongoing Streams, and confirming. OneStream’s separate 24/7 streaming guide, updated September 3, 2026, says its 24/7 feature is exclusive to YouTube, requires an Enterprise plan, and has a maximum duration of 30 days. - Whether cancellation stops output immediately or only affects renewal.
- The paid-through date and the date account access ends.
- Whether the replacement can send video to the intended YouTube event and account.
- Which dashboard control stops the old feed, and which YouTube Studio control ends the broadcast.
- Who owns the billing relationship: the host directly, an app store, or a reseller.
These checks help avoid confusing subscription cancellation with feed shutdown. The reviewed provider documentation does not establish a universal rule for continuity, nor does it guarantee that a particular event can be reopened after it has been explicitly ended.
