To apply for a Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) IPO, find the current offer prospectus, verify that public subscription is open, and follow that issue’s stated application and payment instructions. Depending on the offer, you may apply through PSX e-IPO, CDC’s Centralized e-IPO System (CES), or another official channel named in the offer documents. You do not necessarily need a brokerage account to subscribe, but you may need one to trade the shares after listing.
1. Find an open IPO and its current prospectus
Start with current information from PSX and the issuer. Confirm that the public subscription period is open and obtain the prospectus or abridged prospectus for that specific offer. An old IPO guide may explain a past process, but its dates, participating banks, payment routes, and terms should not be treated as current.
PSX’s investor resources direct prospective investors to review the offer documents and issuer information. The PSX e-IPO portal lists offers and application routes. Use the issuer’s and PSX’s current instructions to establish which channel is available for the offer you are considering.

2. Read the offer terms before committing money
Do not decide based only on the company name or the possibility that its share price could rise. Read the prospectus for the information that determines both what you are buying and how the application works.
#1 Best Overall
- Issuer and use of proceeds: Understand the business and what the issuer says it will do with the funds raised.
- Financial condition and risks: Review the financial statements, risk factors, defaults or litigation disclosures, and information about promoters.
- Offer mechanics: Check the offer price, number of shares, eligibility, application limits, subscription dates, and allotment method. If an offer has separate book-building and general-public portions, confirm which portion you can apply for and its rules.
- Application and payment: Identify the required accounts, enabled submission channels, payment instructions, and exact deadline.
- After listing: Consider whether your investment rationale still makes sense if the share price does not rise promptly. An IPO application does not guarantee an allocation or a listing gain.
PSX’s Investor Dos & Don’ts cautions: “Do not bank on the price of the shares of the issuer company going up in the short run.” An offer prospectus may also include an investment-risk warning; for example, a PSX-hosted prospectus states that equity investment involves risk and investors should not invest funds they cannot afford to lose. Treat that as a warning about the nature of the investment, not a prediction about a particular IPO.
3. Confirm the account and access requirements
A brokerage account is not necessarily required just to subscribe to an IPO. PSX’s Interloop IPO guide described a CDC investor account or sub-account as sufficient for that particular offer. PSX’s current e-IPO portal, meanwhile, says only registered investors may file and offers routes to apply directly, through a TREC holder with whom the investor has a sub-account, or through a bank where the investor has an account.
These examples do not establish one universal account rule for every issue. Before registering or applying, use the live prospectus and current system instructions to confirm the registration, identity, bank, CDC, or broker-account requirements for the specific offer. A licensed brokerage account is relevant if you want to trade shares after they are listed; PSX advises investors to use active PSX-recognized TREC holders licensed by SECP in its investor awareness guide.

4. Submit the application through an official route
Use only a channel identified by PSX, the issuer, or the offer documents. The available route can differ from one IPO to another.

PSX e-IPO
For offers enabled on PSX e-IPO, register and apply through the PSX e-IPO portal during the public subscription period. PSX says the portal accepts applications 24 hours a day during that period. Its interface provides investor, TREC-holder, and bank routes, subject to the relevant registration and account requirements.
CDC Centralized e-IPO System
CDC’s Centralized e-IPO System (CES) is another electronic application channel used for offers that enable it. Check the current prospectus or issuer instructions to see whether CES is available for the IPO you want; its availability should not be assumed for every issue.

Non-resident Pakistani applicants using an RDA
A PSX notice dated March 13, 2026 describes participation in IPOs and other offers through a Roshan Digital Account (RDA) for a non-resident individual Pakistani. It says the RDA should be linked to an active CDC Investor Account and describes registration through CDC’s e-Services portal followed by the offer-specific subscription and payment process. Because these are operational details that can change, check the PSX notice alongside current bank and CDC instructions before applying.

Follow the payment method shown for the particular offer and the instructions in the application system. PSX e-IPO lists 1Link and NIFT payment. Its 1Link route supports enabled methods such as ATM, internet or mobile banking, mobile wallets, and over-the-counter services. The NIFT route redirects applicants to its ePay page for the required bank and identity details. The methods available to you depend on the live system and offer instructions.
Best Value
Save the application confirmation and payment receipt or reference. If a payment appears incomplete, do not assume that an application was successfully submitted; check its status through the official system and follow the offer’s stated support or correction process before the deadline.
6. Check allotment, refunds, and share credit
After subscription closes, consult the prospectus and official system for the allotment result, any refund process, and how allocated shares will be credited. These arrangements are offer-specific, so use the issuer’s current instructions rather than assuming that every IPO follows the same timeline or credit procedure.
If shares are allotted and you intend to sell or otherwise trade them after listing, arrange the necessary brokerage access and understand the trading process separately. Subscribing to an IPO and trading listed shares are distinct steps.
