To keep a Game Pass game after it leaves the catalog, open Xbox’s official games catalog, check Leaving soon, then compare the member price on the exact game listing with its current sale price before buying. Xbox advertises a member discount of up to 20%; that is a maximum, not a guaranteed saving on every title.
1. Find games that are leaving soon
-
Open the official Xbox Game Pass games catalog. Select the Leaving soon collection to see titles Xbox lists as leaving in the next two weeks.
-
Check the live collection and note the departure date shown for the game you want. The list changes over time; the catalog page can show no games in the window at one point and titles later.

2. Check the game’s price and discount
Open the game’s Microsoft Store listing and compare the member price with the current sale price. Xbox’s catalog says: “To keep playing, buy now and save up to 20% with your member discount.” The wording sets a ceiling: the actual discount depends on the game and the price currently displayed, and may be less than 20%.

3. Match the platform and edition
Confirm that the Store listing is for the platform you use and the edition you intend to buy. The Xbox catalog supports platform filtering, but a catalog entry alone does not establish the purchase terms or entitlement for a particular game. Read the listing’s details before checkout, especially if you switch between console and PC or are considering a different edition.
4. Verify that the purchase meets your goal
Before paying, check the specific game’s purchase terms and version against the access you want after it leaves Game Pass. Xbox’s general catalog message encourages buying to keep playing, but the exact platform, edition, and title-specific terms are not established by that general statement. Do not assume that every version has identical access terms.
