For a comparable, auditable report, capture every pricing URL with the same documented browser profile, record each result in a manifest, and review the images before using them as evidence. You can automate a URL list with Playwright or use a hosted capture service. Neither a successful file nor a selected India region guarantees that every Indian buyer sees the same page: location, consent state, authentication, bot checks, and lazy-loaded content can change what appears.
Build a traceable URL inventory first
Start with one canonical pricing-page URL per company or product. Resolve redirects and confirm that each URL leads to the intended public pricing page before running a batch. Give each row a stable identifier and use it in the output filename so a screenshot can be traced back to its source.
A CSV or spreadsheet can include these fields:
- Company or product and stable row ID.
- Original URL and final URL after redirects, if available.
- Capture timestamp in UTC, region or proxy location, and locale if controlled.
- Viewport dimensions and desktop/mobile profile.
- Viewport-only or full-page mode, output format, and wait strategy.
- Image path, result status, and notes on consent, login, loading, redirects, or bot blocks.
Keep the original URL even if a redirect changes the destination. If the screenshot supports a pricing claim, separately transcribe the visible plan name, currency, billing period, and observation date. An image shows what the capture returned under its recorded conditions; it does not establish that every user saw the same offer or could purchase on those terms.

Self-managed Playwright
Playwright is a fit when you want control over navigation, browser settings, filenames, retries, and local evidence storage. Its page screenshot API supports viewport screenshots and full-page captures; consult the Playwright screenshots guide and Page API for current options.
The following Node.js example reads a newline-delimited URL file, takes a full-page PNG for each URL, and writes a success or error row to a CSV manifest. It uses a fixed desktop viewport and bounded navigation timeout. Install Playwright and its Chromium browser before running it.
- Save one URL per line in
urls.txt. - Install the runtime:
npm install playwrightandnpx playwright install chromium. - Save the script below as
capture.mjsand runnode capture.mjs.
import { chromium } from 'playwright';
import { readFile, appendFile, mkdir } from 'node:fs/promises';
import path from 'node:path';
const urls = (await readFile('urls.txt', 'utf8'))
.split(/r?n/).map(s => s.trim()).filter(Boolean);
const outDir = 'captures';
await mkdir(outDir, { recursive: true });
const manifest = path.join(outDir, 'manifest.csv');
await appendFile(manifest, 'id,url,captured_at_utc,status,file,errorn');
const browser = await chromium.launch({ headless: true });
const context = await browser.newContext({ viewport: { width: 1440, height: 1000 } });
const page = await context.newPage();
for (const [index, url] of urls.entries()) {
const id = String(index + 1).padStart(4, '0');
const timestamp = new Date().toISOString();
const file = path.join(outDir, `${id}_full.png`);
let status = 'error';
let error = '';
try {
await page.goto(url, { waitUntil: 'domcontentloaded', timeout: 45000 });
await page.screenshot({ path: file, fullPage: true });
status = 'success';
} catch (e) {
error = String(e).replaceAll('"', '""').replaceAll('n', ' ');
}
const csv = [id, `"${url.replaceAll('"', '""')}"`, timestamp, status,
status === 'success' ? `"${file}"` : '', `"${error}"`].join(',') + 'n';
await appendFile(manifest, csv);
}
await context.close();
await browser.close();
This minimal loop is intentionally sequential and records navigation or screenshot exceptions. It does not establish that a page rendered correctly: the script can save an image containing a consent overlay, challenge page, incomplete content, or login wall. Inspect the files and enrich the manifest with the final URL and any manual observations before relying on them. For a strict audit trail, retain the initial attempt when retrying and record the adjustment rather than silently replacing it.
Hosted capture services
A hosted service can reduce the work of maintaining browser infrastructure when its batch interface, region controls, workflow actions, or export options fit the project. Check live documentation and plans for URL limits, concurrency, retry behavior, result-level errors, retention, and whether its region options suit the intended Indian-market view. Provider descriptions are not independent comparisons of reliability or capture accuracy.

Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →ScreenshotNeo is the first hosted option to consider for this workflow: it removes known consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; only clean captures are billed; and it offers an MCP server for AI agents. Because those removals change the page state, retain a note when the image is evidence and the omitted elements matter to your research question.
Other documented hosted options include the Apify Bulk Website Screenshot Capture Actor, whose listing describes URL-list capture, a per-URL result manifest, errors, viewport presets, and proxy support; Capture.page and its Browser Sessions; and Add Screenshots. Confirm current capabilities, prices, regional availability, retention, and site compatibility directly with each provider.
Standardize the profile, not just the URL list
Comparable captures require the same documented conditions. Choose settings based on the question your report answers; there is no universally correct profile.
- Viewport and device: Set exact width and height, and decide whether the report represents desktop or mobile. Record device emulation and scale where used.
- Capture extent: A viewport image preserves what fits on screen; a full-page image captures more of the page in one file but may become very tall and can still miss content that only loads after scrolling. Use one mode consistently, or label separate modes clearly.
- Format: PNG preserves detail without lossy compression; JPEG may reduce file size but can soften small text. Choose one format across the dataset where possible.
- Wait behavior: A navigation event such as DOM content loaded is not proof that prices, scripts, or images have finished rendering. Use a documented selector or network-idle condition when appropriate, plus a bounded pause or scroll for lazy content. Keep timeouts bounded so a single slow page does not stall the batch.
- Region and proxy: If the report concerns Indian visitors, use a suitable India location when available and record it. A service’s region setting does not prove that all Indian users receive identical currency, tax treatment, or plan availability.
- Consent and overlays: Preserve or handle consent banners according to the research question. Do not silently remove elements that could affect a reader’s interpretation. Note any action or automated cleanup in the manifest.
- Authentication and interaction: Record any login, cookie, or click state required to reach the content. Do not treat a private or personalized view as a public pricing page.
Playwright and hosted providers document controls for screenshots and browser workflows, but the right settings depend on the study design. The tools do not supply a universal setting that guarantees identical rendering across unrelated websites.

Run the batch and preserve failures
- Run a small pilot against representative URLs, including pages expected to use localization or dynamic content.
- Check that output files open, names map to manifest rows, and timestamps and settings are recorded.
- Process the full list with explicit per-URL success or error status. Do not let a missing image count as a successful run.
- Review every image for blank or partial pages, wrong redirects, cut-off plans, loading placeholders, consent overlays, unexpected login screens, and bot challenges.
- Retry only selected failures with a recorded change, such as a longer bounded wait or a relevant interaction. Preserve the initial result and both sets of conditions.
The Apify listing specifically cautions that public pages can differ from a personal browser because of site-specific authentication, consent, bot defenses, and regional delivery. A saved image is therefore an artifact to inspect, not an automatic validation of the intended experience.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo accepts a URL in one GET request; its documentation lists the API options.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Replace the example target URL with a pricing-page URL and use your API key. ScreenshotNeo removes known cookie/consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed; an MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots; and 1,000 screenshots per month are free with no card, with paid plans starting at $5 for 3,000. For report evidence, record that cleanup in the manifest when those elements affect interpretation.

India-specific interpretation and report evidence
Do not assume a server in an arbitrary location reproduces the view of a buyer in India. Record the chosen capture region and manually compare representative pages from the intended market context before drawing conclusions about localized currency, taxes, plan availability, or variants. The reviewed provider descriptions do not establish default locations or prove that one region setting represents every Indian visitor.
For a report, retain the original URL, exact UTC capture time, region, viewport, capture mode, software or service version when available, result status, and manual interventions. Use a filename such as company-product_2026-10-03_India_desktop_full.png, while keeping the full timestamp and settings in the manifest. Describe the image as a record of what the chosen setup returned at that time, not as proof of a universally available price.
Troubleshooting common capture problems
- Blank or nearly blank image: The page may not have rendered before capture, or navigation may have reached an error state. Inspect the page and manifest; use a bounded wait for a relevant selector or condition, then retry and preserve both attempts.
- Prices or images missing below the fold: Content may be lazy-loaded. Try a documented scroll or a longer bounded wait before full-page capture, and note the changed profile.
- Wrong currency or page variant: The capture location, cookies, or site localization may affect delivery. Record region and locale, then manually verify representative URLs in the intended India context.
- Consent banner obscures plans: Preserve it if consent state is part of the evidence. If you accept or remove it, record the action; for ScreenshotNeo, note its configured cleanup of known consent and other overlays.
- Bot check or CAPTCHA appears: Treat the image as a blocked attempt, not pricing evidence. Log the result and do not infer page content from it.
- Timeout or failed navigation: Keep a per-URL error row, check the URL and network access, and retry selectively with a bounded timeout adjustment. Avoid letting one URL terminate the entire batch.
- Image exists but shows a login wall or redirect: Check the final destination and access requirements. Record the result as a different page state rather than labeling it a valid public pricing capture.
- Plans are cut off in a very tall image: Capture the relevant viewport or element separately, or use a documented page range where available; label the mode so comparisons remain fair.
Cost, speed, and reliability decisions
Self-hosting avoids choosing a hosted provider but shifts browser maintenance, concurrency, storage, and retry handling to your workflow. A hosted option can reduce infrastructure management, but its batch limits, pricing, regional controls, storage, and failure reporting vary. No independent head-to-head measurements establish that one route is universally faster, cheaper, or more reliable for Indian SaaS pages.
Best Value
Estimate workload from the URL count, chosen image modes, retry allowance, storage needs, and schedule. Before committing, check the provider’s current plan terms and test representative pages. Treat CAPTCHA, blank output, a timeout, or a cache hit according to the provider’s stated result and billing semantics; for ScreenshotNeo, response headers identify page verdict and billed status, and only clean shots are billed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should a market research screenshot include the consent banner?
That depends on the research question. Preserve the banner if its presence is relevant, or document any acceptance or removal so the screenshot’s state is clear.
Does a full-page screenshot guarantee every pricing detail is captured?
No. Content may load only after scrolling, and a long page can still contain incomplete or blocked sections. Inspect the output and record the capture mode.
Can an India-region capture prove that a price is available to every Indian customer?
No. A region setting is evidence of the capture setup, not proof that all visitors receive identical prices, taxes, or plan availability.
