Yes—you can use Go for Android and iOS, either to build an app whose code and interface are written in Go or to put Go-powered logic inside an app with a native interface. The main choices are Go Mobile’s gomobile build and gomobile bind, or the separate Gio GUI toolkit, which uses gogio. Choose based on whether Go should own the interface or supply shared logic to an existing Java, Kotlin, Swift, or Objective-C app.
Three ways to use Go for mobile apps
Build a standalone app with Go Mobile
Go Mobile documents a route for building standalone Android and iOS applications with gomobile build. This is the closest fit if you want the application itself to be written in Go. However, standalone Go Mobile is not a complete conventional UI toolkit: its documented approach exposes a raw OpenGL ES context, and gomobile does not provide GUI packages. See the Go Mobile overview and gomobile command reference.
Call Go code from a native app
Use gomobile bind when the interface should remain in a native Android or Apple project but you want to implement reusable logic in Go. The command generates bindings so Java code on Android or Objective-C code on iOS can call a Go package. The Go Mobile wiki describes an Android workflow that produces an AAR for an Android project and an iOS workflow that creates a framework for an Xcode project. Apple-target output details may depend on the installed gomobile version, so check its command reference rather than assuming an older packaging instruction still applies.
Build a Go-authored interface with Gio
Gio is a separate cross-platform GUI framework for Go. It provides a higher-level drawing interface than Go Mobile’s raw OpenGL ES route and uses gogio for mobile builds. Gio and gomobile are different architectural approaches: Gio is for a Go GUI, while gomobile bindings are for connecting Go logic to a native UI. Gio’s FAQ explains the framework distinction.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Which approach should you choose?
| Need | Likely fit | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| A Go-written interface and app | Gio or standalone Go Mobile | Gio supplies a higher-level drawing abstraction and its own mobile build tool. Go Mobile’s standalone route exposes a raw OpenGL ES context and does not include GUI packages. |
| A native interface with shared Go logic | gomobile bind |
Generate language bindings for a Go package and integrate them into an Android or Apple project. |
| Existing native project and platform-specific UI | gomobile bind |
Keep the UI in the platform project and use Go for the package functionality that makes sense to share. |
| One Go codebase for the interface across mobile targets | Gio | Use Gio’s GUI framework and gogio; validate that the framework and its platform access meet the app’s requirements. |
Before committing, check the platform APIs your app needs and whether the framework supports the specific integration. The available documentation establishes these development routes, but not a comprehensive, current inventory of native API coverage. Also account for native skills: binding-based apps still require work in their Android or Apple projects, while mobile builds for either Go-authored UI route have platform-specific setup.
What you need to build for Android and iOS
Go Mobile and Apple platforms
Go Mobile’s documentation requires a macOS host with Xcode for iOS targets. Deploying to a physical device also involves an appropriate signing identity and provisioning. Consult the Go Mobile setup guidance and command reference for the current requirements.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Gio on Android
Gio’s Android guide calls for the Android SDK and NDK; it specifies SDK 31 or later and demonstrates building an APK with gogio -target android. The guide also mentions OpenJDK 1.8 for its documented toolchain. Because Java and Android build requirements can change, use the current Gio Android instructions rather than treating that Java version as universal.
Gio on iOS
Gio’s iOS workflow requires Xcode. For a signed device package, the -appid value must match an identifier provisioned in Xcode; the guide also describes producing a .app for simulator use. Follow the current Gio iOS instructions for the target you intend to run.

How to get started
- Decide where the UI lives. Choose a Go GUI such as Gio or the standalone Go Mobile route if Go should own the interface. Choose bindings if a native Android or Apple UI should call Go logic.
- Pick the matching tool. For Go Mobile, use
gomobile buildfor standalone app builds orgomobile bindfor a Go package used by a native project. For Gio, follow its platform guide and build withgogio. - Set up the target environment. Install the required Android SDK/NDK components for Gio Android builds. For Apple targets, use a Mac with Xcode; prepare signing and provisioning for physical-device deployment.
- Check current tool and output requirements. Build commands, supported targets, and generated Apple output formats can change. Verify the installed
gomobiledocumentation or the current Gio platform guide before integrating build artifacts. - Validate the app’s platform needs. Test the APIs, signing, packaging, and device behavior your application depends on; do not infer complete native API coverage merely from a framework supporting Android and iOS builds.
Can you write a complete mobile app in Go?
Yes, there are documented Go-authored app routes: Go Mobile supports standalone builds, and Gio provides a Go GUI framework with Android and iOS build guidance. But “written in Go” does not mean every route offers the same UI abstraction, platform integration, or build workflow. If your main goal is shared business logic inside an existing native application, bindings are a more direct fit than replacing the UI layer.
