Build LEGO PlayStation set 72306 from its official instructions, take care not to force tight or moving connections, and display it on a stable, level surface. To clean pieces, LEGO recommends hand-washing with water no hotter than 104°F (40°C) and a soft cloth or sponge; avoid appliances and direct sunlight while drying.
Know the model and its delicate features
LEGO PlayStation 72306 is a 1,911-piece, 18+ model of the original console and its first controller. LEGO describes it as near 1:1 scale and lists the console dimensions as over 6 cm high, 26 cm wide, and 19 cm deep. The set has functional Open and Power buttons, a controller that plugs into the front, and removable miniature scenes inspired by Gran Turismo and Ape Escape. LEGO’s announcement and official product listing describe the model and its features.
Build the set carefully
- Check the set number. Confirm that the box or instructions identify the model as 72306. LEGO’s building-instructions service lets you search by set number; its piece-number guidance also explains how set numbers help locate instructions and replacement parts.
- Use the official instructions. Follow the paper booklet or digital instructions. LEGO says its Builder app can zoom and rotate the model’s 3D instructions, track progress, and save sets. The app’s controls can help you check the orientation of a piece before attaching it.
- Prepare a clear, steady work surface. Keep small pieces and sub-builds where they cannot roll away or get caught beneath your hands. This is a practical handling precaution, not a set-specific instruction from LEGO.
- Check alignment instead of forcing a connection. If a piece resists, stop and compare its orientation with the instruction image. Avoid pulling a connection sideways or pressing harder without checking; the reviewed LEGO material does not specify a special tool or assembly-force procedure for this set.
- Handle the moving and removable features gently. Insert or remove the controller and dioramas carefully, and operate the buttons without forcing them. LEGO describes these features but does not publish durability-test results or a recommendation for repeated operation.
Choose a display arrangement and give it room
LEGO presents the model as shelf or desk décor. Set it on a level, steady surface and allow for the console’s 26-by-19-cm footprint, plus room for the controller and any dioramas displayed outside the console. These are the console’s listed width and depth; the extra clearance depends on how you arrange the removable pieces.
You can leave the game-inspired dioramas inside the console or remove them and place them nearby; the controller can be plugged into the front or displayed alongside it. LEGO confirms these options but does not compare their stability or protection, so choose the arrangement that fits your available space and handle loose pieces carefully when repositioning them.

Dust and wash pieces without heat damage
For routine dust
A dry, soft brush or cloth is a conservative way to remove surface dust. This is general care advice, not the cleaning method specified in LEGO’s support guidance.
For washing
LEGO recommends cleaning pieces by hand with water no hotter than 104°F (40°C) and a soft cloth or sponge. Its cleaning guidance says you may add mild detergent and should rinse the pieces well with clear water afterward.

Do not put LEGO pieces in a washing machine or dishwasher, and do not dry them in an oven, microwave, or with a hair dryer. LEGO also warns against leaving pieces in direct sunlight to dry: very hot bricks may change shape.

Find a replacement if a piece is missing or damaged
Newer LEGO sets list element numbers at the back of the instructions. Many pieces also have a four- or five-digit design number molded inside; turn the piece under bright light to look for it. LEGO says the number and color can help identify a piece, and you can enter an element or design number in its replacement-pieces service to check availability.
