Build the funnel around a clear public playlist of regular videos, then point viewers to it from relevant YouTube surfaces. Use cards and end screens on eligible uploads, make the playlist’s purpose clear in descriptions and live-chat messages, and track clicks and playlist activity in YouTube Analytics. YouTube’s Live Redirect is for handing viewers to a Premiere or another live stream—not a standard uploaded video.
Plan the viewer’s next step
A useful funnel gives someone watching your continuous stream an obvious next place to go: a focused playlist of already-published videos that answers a related question or continues the same topic. Choose a destination based on the viewer’s likely goal, not simply on which uploads you want to promote.
- Choose a focused theme. Group regular videos by a topic or viewer goal that naturally connects to the stream.
- Put the most useful next video early. Arrange the playlist so a new viewer can quickly find a worthwhile starting point.
- Create or edit the playlist in YouTube. YouTube supports creating, editing, and reordering playlists. Set the destination to public if you want to link viewers to it.
- Explain the value of continuing. Write a descriptive playlist title and description, and use clear wording wherever you link to it so viewers know what they will find.
Keep this funnel playlist distinct from the stream itself: the stream is the ongoing live destination, while the playlist is the route into regular uploads.
Link to the playlist from regular videos
Use cards where they fit
Add a card to a regular video at a point where the playlist is a relevant next step. YouTube allows up to five cards on one video, and cards can link to a public playlist or public video. Cards are unavailable on videos set as Made for Kids. See YouTube’s cards guidance for current setup details.

Use end screens for the final choice
On an eligible upload, add an end-screen element that features the playlist or a selected video. End screens appear during the final 5–20 seconds, and the video must be at least 25 seconds long. Give the end screen enough unobstructed time to be useful, and use a specific prompt that explains why the viewer might continue. YouTube reports end-screen element click rate for individual videos in Analytics. Details are in YouTube’s end-screen instructions.
Make the route visible around the live stream
Use the stream’s on-page messaging and live-chat messages to identify the regular-video playlist and explain what it offers. A link is more useful when its destination and purpose are clear; avoid suggesting that YouTube will automatically send viewers from a continuous stream to an ordinary uploaded video when it ends.

Live Redirect serves a different purpose. YouTube describes it as sending viewers, after a stream ends, to a Premiere or another channel’s live stream. The channel sending the redirect must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes; redirecting to another channel also depends on that channel permitting it. YouTube’s setup instructions place the control in YouTube Studio under the live video’s customization and redirect settings. The feature is listed for horizontal streams, not vertical live feeds. Check YouTube’s Live Redirect instructions before relying on the current Studio controls.

A Premiere can work as a scheduled, event-style bridge after a stream, but it is still a Premiere rather than a link to an ordinary video. For an evergreen path into published uploads, use playlist links and eligible cards or end screens.

Choose the right route for the handoff

Organize archives and highlights for continuous streams
Do not rely on YouTube’s automatic archive as the only copy of a 24/7 feed. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived and warns that streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured. It recommends keeping a local archive backup. A continuous stream is therefore not equivalent to a reliably archived short event.
YouTube recommends organizing stream archives and highlight clips into playlists. Where it suits your workflow, create shorter sessions or preserve and publish usable segments separately, then place appropriate highlights alongside the regular-video destination. Use a series playlist only for a genuine series
A series playlist identifies an official set of videos intended to be watched together, and YouTube says it may use that information to affect presentation or discovery. A verified account is required; each video can appear in only one series playlist, and the playlist may include only videos you uploaded and have rights to. Do not mark an ordinary funnel playlist as a series unless its videos truly form one. See YouTube’s series playlist guidance.

- For a particular regular video, review the end-screen element click-rate report in YouTube Analytics to see whether viewers use that end-screen element.
- Playlist Analytics shows data only for public playlists that received views during the selected reporting period.
- Use these reports as indicators of activity on the documented surfaces. They do not, by themselves, prove that the funnel caused overall channel growth.
