Build an independent GTA 6 API around facts Rockstar has published, and label every record with its source and observation time. As of October 7, 2026, Rockstar lists Grand Theft Auto VI as announced for November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Its public materials also identify Jason, Lucia, Leonida, and Vice City. That is a useful starter dataset—not a complete game-world catalog.
What the API can reliably say about GTA 6
Rockstar’s official GTA VI site lists a November 19, 2026 release date and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as platforms. The Rockstar Newswire announcement dated August 27, 2026 states the same date and platforms. Treat the date as an announced future release, not proof that the game has launched.
The official site features a People & Places section and names Jason, Lucia, Leonida, and Vice City. The Rockstar Games Store listing describes Jason and Lucia’s story as taking place across Leonida. These are defensible initial records; they do not establish every character, location, or relationship in the game.
The Rockstar sources cited here do not document a supported GTA 6 developer API, endpoint, schema, authentication method, rate limit, or data feed. Present your service as independent and based on publicly published information. Do not imply Rockstar operates, endorses, or supplies it.

Separate entities, relationships, and status
A small API is easier to keep accurate when it distinguishes the game itself from the people and places connected to it, and separates release announcements from release verification. One possible resource layout is:
/games/gta-vifor title-level status, release date, and platforms./entitiesand/entities/{id}for people and places./relationshipsfor sourced links between records, such as a story taking place across a location./sourcesfor publisher, source URL, and publication or update date where available.
Use stable local IDs that your service controls, such as gta-vi, jason, and vice-city. Make clear that these are your API’s identifiers, not Rockstar-issued IDs. Avoid adding relationships unless the cited source supports them; an association should point to its evidence rather than rely on implication.

Record provenance and freshness
For each fact, retain enough context for a client to judge where it came from and how recently your collector checked it. Keep the publisher’s date separate from your own observation time: an old announcement can still be the latest published statement, while a recent check does not make that announcement new.

This compact example represents the announced status and a sourced set of initial entities. The sample observation time is illustrative; a live API should populate it with the collector’s actual check time.

The example uses null for the official site’s source date because the cited page does not supply one in the stated evidence; it does not mean the date is unknown to Rockstar. release_date_type indicates that the release date is a calendar date, not a timestamp for a specific time of day. The Newswire item is dated August 27, 2026, and Rockstar Customer Support’s editions article was last updated August 18, 2026; store and support details can change, so attach their actual source dates when recording those claims.

Model changes without erasing history
Do not overwrite the meaning of a record when the status changes. Keep announced distinct from released, and retain prior release-date announcements if Rockstar changes the schedule. Clients can then distinguish the current value from the history that led to it.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsUse ISO-formatted dates consistently. A calendar date such as 2026-11-19 should not be presented as a UTC instant; use a full timestamp with a timezone only when the source provides a time-specific event. Document the field semantics so API consumers do not mistake one for the other.
Include editions and physical format only if your API needs them
Rockstar Customer Support’s platforms, editions, and versions article, last updated August 18, 2026, lists Standard and Ultimate editions and says the physical version is a download code in the box with no disc. It also describes preload beginning November 12, 2026; redemption rules vary by region, so a consumer-facing implementation should direct users to the current support page for regional details.
These details belong in edition or format records, not in the core entity list. Keep platform, edition, and physical-package claims separately sourced, since they answer different compatibility and purchase questions and may change independently.
Quick Recap
Build checks before publishing responses
- Verify the source: confirm that each value is present in a Rockstar page or clearly identify a different source type.
- Track two dates: store the source’s publication or update date when supplied, and the collector’s actual UTC observation time.
- Preserve status semantics: report the game as
announceduntil a supported source establishes a different state. - Review changes: compare newly checked values with saved announcements and retain the history rather than silently deleting it.
- Label scope: describe the entities as the records your API currently tracks, not as a complete official catalog.
