Build a 24/7 schedule as four planned livestream blocks of about six hours each—not as one day-long event. Schedule each block in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, connect an encoder with your stream URL and key, and assign a person to check the handoff. Keeping each event under 12 hours matters if you want YouTube to create an archive: streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube does not promise that separate events will hand off seamlessly or that a playlist will loop uninterrupted.
Plan the day as manageable blocks
A useful starting calendar has four roughly six-hour blocks, with a brief operator check between them. These are planning examples, not YouTube requirements or evidence-based prescriptions for preschool programming. Set the times in the main audience time zone and state that time zone on the channel. Give each block its own song-and-story sequence, and choose a repeat point that will not cut off a story.

| Block | Example content mix | Operator check |
|---|---|---|
| Early morning | Gentle songs and short familiar stories | Confirm the event title, thumbnail, and audience setting. |
| Daytime | Movement songs, counting, and simple stories | Monitor audio and video; watch for rights claims. |
| Evening | Calm songs and bedtime stories | Check that transitions do not interrupt story endings. |
| Overnight | Quiet songs and low-stimulation stories | Confirm the next encoder session and local backup recording are ready. |
If no operator can watch every transition, describe the channel as planned programming with monitoring rather than promising uninterrupted service. YouTube’s published guidance explains how to schedule livestreams and use an encoder; it does not establish guaranteed 24/7 automated looping or seamless handoffs between events.

1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsPrepare content and confirm rights before scheduling
Inventory every asset
List each song, story, recording, illustration, and animation. For each, record the rights owner, permitted territories, whether livestreaming and archived playback are covered, and any expiry or attribution condition. YouTube’s livestream terms require you to hold the rights needed for live and archived content, including music rights (YouTube livestream terms and conditions).
#1 Best Overall
A familiar or old song does not automatically make a particular recording or arrangement free to use. A generic “royalty-free” label also does not establish that every intended use is covered. If a license is unclear, confirm the scope with the rights holder or a qualified adviser before putting the asset on air.
Set the audience accurately
Preschool songs and stories are strong indicators that content is made for kids. YouTube requires creators who make children’s content to tell the platform whether their videos are made for kids; the creator is responsible for choosing the audience setting accurately. Review YouTube’s made-for-kids FAQ and its guidance on determining whether content is made for kids.
Rank #2
For made-for-kids livestreams, features including live chat and personalized ads are disabled, and other features may also be restricted. Do not build the schedule around chat, Super Chat, or personalized-ad revenue. Set the audience for every event in Live Control Room; see YouTube’s audience-setting instructions and live-streaming restriction guidance.

Made-for-kids designation does not automatically place a video in the YouTube Kids app. YouTube Kids has separate eligibility and review systems; its Preschool content setting is designed for children aged four and under. See YouTube Kids content policies and how families can choose content.

Schedule each livestream in YouTube Studio
- Create the event: In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room, choose Manage, then Schedule Stream. You can reuse settings where useful, but review the title, thumbnail, description, and audience setting for each event. Follow YouTube’s encoder-stream setup and live stream settings guide.
- Connect the encoder: Enter the stream URL and stream key in the encoder. Treat the key like a password; reset it if it is exposed or you suspect it has been compromised.
- Keep the event under 12 hours: If YouTube archiving matters, make each scheduled event shorter than 12 hours. YouTube says a stream under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while one exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. This is an archive limitation, not a promise of uninterrupted scheduling. See YouTube’s archive guidance.
- Set up local recording: YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup. Choose a destination with enough free space for the block, and verify the recording file is growing while the stream runs.
- Test and preview: Prepare and test the encoder ahead of the event. Preview the stream, check the watch page on desktop and mobile, and verify audio, video, and local recording before relying on the block. See YouTube’s live streaming tips.
- Monitor and close the handoff: Watch for stream-quality issues and confirm the next event’s encoder and backup recording are ready. After the block, inspect the archive and correct its visibility if needed. Do not tell viewers an archive is saved until you have verified it.
Use a handoff checklist for every block
- Confirm the event is scheduled for the intended date, time, and time zone.
- Recheck the title, thumbnail, description, and made-for-kids setting for this event.
- Confirm the correct stream URL and key are in the encoder.
- Preview the watch page and check playback on mobile as well as desktop.
- Listen and watch for audio or video faults; verify the local archive file is growing.
- Check the next block’s content sequence, encoder readiness, and backup recording.
- After the event, inspect the YouTube archive rather than assuming it was captured.
Choose an operating approach around the risks
There is no single staffing or production setup that fits every channel. Compare options by whether someone can catch a failed handoff, whether each event stays within the archive-friendly duration, whether the rights cover both live and archived use, whether audience settings are accurate, and the cost and complexity of operating the encoder. The YouTube documentation cited here does not compare named encoder providers or establish that a particular service guarantees a 24/7 loop.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a YouTube-only stream made from uploaded recordings, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative: upload the video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud keeps it running without a computer or home connection left on, and it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. Your upload streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. Review StreamNeo and its pricing; then start the free day.
