You can turn a folder of sleep-sound videos into a continuous YouTube Live broadcast by arranging the videos to repeat, sending them through an encoder to YouTube, and monitoring the stream. The encoder can run on your computer, which must stay on and connected, or in the cloud. Before going live, verify your channel is eligible and make sure you have rights to both the audio and visuals.
Choose how the stream will run
A 24/7 broadcast needs a source that keeps sending video and audio to YouTube. With a local setup, streaming software on your computer encodes and sends the feed directly to YouTube. With a cloud service, the provider runs the prerecorded stream remotely, so your computer does not have to remain on.

Neither method makes an uninterrupted broadcast automatic: test your own media and connection, and monitor the live output. YouTube and OBS recommend watching stream quality and checking for connection problems.
Prepare your videos and rights
Make a repeatable sequence
Collect the sleep-sound videos you want to use and arrange them in a playlist or another sequence that can repeat. Decide how the sounds should transition and check that the sequence plays as intended before you stream. The exact playlist-building clicks depend on your software; the available sources do not establish current, version-specific OBS steps for creating a folder playlist.

Confirm you can use every element
You need permission for both the video and its audio. YouTube scans livestreams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you; if the material remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the broadcast. Even licensed material can require the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist, so a license alone may not prevent an interruption. See YouTube’s live-streaming copyright guidance.
All live content must also comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. YouTube says a live-stream strike prevents streaming for 14 days. Do not try to evade an active restriction by streaming from another channel; consult YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and restrictions information.

Check that your channel can go live
YouTube says you need to verify your channel and have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Its current Help page also sets the minimum age to live stream at 16. Review YouTube’s live-streaming setup requirements before preparing a launch. If the option is unavailable, check channel verification, age eligibility, and any restriction notice in YouTube Studio.

- Open YouTube Studio and create or schedule the live stream. Use the live-stream controls in Studio to create the broadcast you intend to use, then select the encoder workflow. YouTube’s available controls can change, so follow the current Studio prompts rather than relying on outdated menu instructions.
- Connect your encoder. Copy the stream key and server details shown for the broadcast into your streaming software. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it. If you need to replace an exposed key, use YouTube Studio’s stream settings to reset it and update the encoder.
- Load the repeatable sleep-sound sequence. Configure your software to play the selected videos in the intended order and repeat them. Confirm that both picture and audio reach the encoder. Specific OBS playlist controls depend on the installed version and workflow; no exact current click path is established here.
- Start a private or unlisted test, then inspect Studio’s preview. Check that the picture is visible, audio is audible and not unexpectedly muted, and the correct broadcast is selected. Test from the channel or watch page and from a mobile device so you know viewers can reach it.
- Launch publicly only after the test succeeds. Confirm the stream is accessible to the intended audience and that the video and audio continue through a transition between files. YouTube recommends preparing ahead, checking the preview, verifying audience access from multiple surfaces, and monitoring stream quality.
The sources do not establish a universal OBS bitrate, resolution, keyframe interval, minimum upload speed, or minimum computer specification for this setup. Use the encoder and YouTube’s current guidance for your chosen output, then test on the actual computer, internet connection, and media you plan to use. Avoid treating a successful short test as proof that the setup will run continuously.

Monitor the broadcast and handle interruptions
While the stream is running, check YouTube Studio’s stream status and watch the broadcast from a viewer’s perspective. Confirm audio and video remain active, especially when the playlist changes files. YouTube recommends continuous quality monitoring for live streams.
- Dropped frames rise or the stream becomes unstable: OBS says this can indicate an unstable internet connection or a bitrate the connection cannot sustain. Check the connection and reduce the output demands if necessary, then test again.
- Studio receives no video or audio: Check that the encoder is running, the correct stream key and broadcast are selected, and the playlist is actually playing. Inspect the preview before making the stream public.
- The broadcast is interrupted after a copyright match: Review YouTube’s notice and resolve the rights issue. If the content is licensed, ask the rights owner whether your channel must be allowlisted in Content ID; do not assume permission alone prevents automated interruption.
- The stream stops when the computer, power, or home connection fails: A local encoder depends on that equipment and connection. Restore them and reconnect through the current Studio broadcast controls. A cloud-hosted option avoids relying on a home computer to keep encoding, but check the provider’s controls and recovery terms.
YouTube’s guidance recommends checking that any local archive is growing, but it does not establish how long a very long live archive remains available or a maximum continuous broadcast length for this use. Do not rely on the stream archive as the only copy of your videos.
