To broadcast a Gujarati radio station on YouTube all day, create a YouTube Live stream in YouTube Studio and send it an audio-and-video signal from an encoder such as OBS or FFmpeg. The video can be a station-branded still image or a visual loop, but music rights must be cleared before you go live. For a 24/7 feed, plan how the encoder, audio source, connection and monitoring will keep running; YouTube does not guarantee uninterrupted uptime.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube’s live-streaming setup instructions.
- An encoder that can send your station audio and a video signal to YouTube. YouTube describes encoders as the option for external hardware and advanced streams.
- A continuous source for the Gujarati station feed, a stable outgoing internet connection and a way to monitor the stream.
- Written rights clearance for the music and other content you plan to broadcast, including the intended territories and any replay or archive use.
A physical mixer is only needed if you must combine or adjust microphones and other live audio sources before encoding. YouTube lists mixers as one possible part of an advanced setup; a mixer does not replace the encoder or rights clearance. If the station already has a mixed output, first check that output and the encoder’s audio input.
Set up the YouTube Live broadcast
- Enable live streaming. Complete the channel’s live-stream activation in YouTube Studio. Allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- Create or schedule the broadcast. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live, then create or schedule a stream in Live Control Room.
- Connect the encoder. Use YouTube as the service if your encoder supports it. Otherwise, enter the stream URL and stream key shown in Studio. Treat the stream key like a password: anyone who has it can authorize a stream to your channel.
- Send audio and video. Route the station’s program audio to the encoder and add a station-branded still image or looping visual. YouTube Live requires a video signal as well as the audio feed.
- Start and verify. Start the encoder and check the preview and live status in Studio. For a scheduled stream, wait for the preview and select Go live as directed by YouTube.
- Monitor operation. Check the station feed, encoder connection and rights status while the broadcast runs. A stream is not self-monitoring merely because the encoder is connected.
Choose how to keep the stream running
There are two practical approaches: run an encoder on a computer you manage, or run one on a hosted server. Neither removes the need for a reliable audio source, connectivity and monitoring.

Choose based on who will operate the system, their technical comfort, restart and alerting needs, and the cost of hosted compute versus local power and connectivity.

Clear music and broadcast rights before launch
YouTube’s live-stream terms require the provider to have the necessary rights for live content worldwide, including music rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants, and to meet requirements in the territories where the stream is available. The terms state: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” Read YouTube’s live-stream terms.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If matching content remains after a warning, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the stream. Even if music is licensed, a rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist to avoid an interruption. Before broadcasting, obtain written clearance covering live streaming, relevant territories and any archive or replay use, and confirm allowlisting with the rights holders involved. The correct local licensing route depends on where the station operates, where the stream is available and the rights for each track; it cannot be determined from the station’s Gujarati-language format alone.

Plan for archives and platform limits
YouTube’s encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a single stream longer than 12 hours will be archived. If replays matter, consider shorter program blocks or a separate recording, and verify the current behavior in Studio before relying on it. The same YouTube live-start instructions state a limit of 10 active streams per channel and three per stream key.
