To block someone on Venmo, open their profile, tap the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner, and choose Block. Venmo says to log out and back in again for the block to take effect. You can unblock the person later from Settings → Privacy.
How to block someone on Venmo
- Open Venmo and go to the other person’s profile.
- Tap the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner.
- Tap Block.
- Log out of Venmo and back in again, as Venmo instructs, for the other user to be blocked.
If the labels or layout differ in your installed app, follow the current controls shown there. Venmo’s help page does not explain the mechanics of logging out and back in, or say whether the blocked person receives a notification. Venmo’s blocking instructions

What blocking changes
Blocking limits interactions between the two accounts. Venmo says blocked users cannot send payments or requests to each other, find each other in search, interact with each other’s profiles, or view or comment on each other’s future payments. The guidance concerns future payment activity; it does not say that blocking hides past transactions or reverses a payment already made. Venmo’s blocking instructions

People who have blocked each other cannot join the same group. If you block someone who is already in a group with you, Venmo may prompt you to leave that group. Venmo’s group guidance

How to unblock someone on Venmo
Open Settings → Privacy and unblock the person there. Venmo’s help page identifies that section but does not provide a more detailed route to the blocked-user list. Venmo’s blocking instructions

- Block: Limits interaction with a specific account, including payments and requests between you.
- Payment privacy: Controls who can see payment activity. Venmo offers Public, Friends, and Private settings. Changing privacy is not the same as blocking a particular person. Venmo’s privacy-settings guidance
- Unfriend: Removes someone from your Friends list without using the block control. Open their profile, tap Friends, then tap Unfriend. Venmo’s friend-management instructions
If a stranger sent you money unexpectedly
Do not send the money back or move it yourself. Venmo advises contacting Venmo Support; you can also block the sender to help prevent another payment. If you receive an unexpected payment request, Venmo says it is best to decline it. If the request seems to come from a friend or relative, verify it with that person outside Venmo before acting.

A parent or guardian can select the Teen Account, open the other user’s profile, tap the three-dot menu, and choose Block User. Venmo says the blocked user cannot send payments to or request payments from the teen account and will not appear in that account’s Venmo network. Venmo’s Teen Account safety guidance
