To block a specific caller on a Samsung Galaxy, open Phone > More options (three dots) > Settings > Block numbers and add the number. That is the handset’s call-blocking control; it does not guarantee that the caller cannot leave voicemail. Samsung says to contact your carrier for voicemail blocking for specific callers.
Block a specific number on a Samsung Galaxy
- Open the Phone app.
- Tap More options (the three dots), then Settings.
- Tap Block numbers.
- Enter the phone number and tap the add icon. If your version offers it, you can instead choose a number from Recents, Messages, or Contacts.
Samsung documents this path for managing blocked numbers: Adjust call settings on your Galaxy phone. To unblock someone, return to Block numbers and remove the number from the blocked list. The exact list control can vary by software version.
Will a blocked caller still be able to leave voicemail?
Possibly. Samsung describes the setting as blocking calls, but does not promise the same call or voicemail outcome on every phone and network. Its guidance is explicit: “To block voicemails from specific callers, you’ll need to contact your carrier directly.” Ask your carrier whether it supports blocking voicemail from an individual number and whether the service is available on your plan and in your region. Samsung names Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and United Cellular as examples of carriers that may offer voicemail-blocking services; availability is not guaranteed. Choose the control that matches the caller

Do not confuse Direct voicemail with call blocking
Samsung Direct voicemail is a routing feature, not a way to block a caller. Samsung says it is available only on Galaxy phones running Android 16 with One UI 8.5 or higher, and availability can vary. Its auto-send option routes incoming calls to voicemail after a chosen ringing duration—the opposite of preventing voicemail routing.
