On iOS 26, open the sender’s email in Mail, tap the sender at the top, choose View Contact Card, then tap Block this Contact. Apple says messages from a blocked sender go to Bin. On iOS 18 or earlier, the steps and blocked-sender settings are different.
How do I block an email sender on my iPhone?
First check your iOS version at Settings > General > About if the labels below do not match your screen.

iOS 26
- Open the message in the Mail app.
- Tap the sender’s name or address at the top of the message.
- Tap View Contact Card.
- Tap Block this Contact.
Apple says email from a blocked sender is moved to Bin, and blocking applies across your Apple devices. The folder name may differ in a localized interface. Apple’s iOS 26 instructions explain the current controls.

- Open the sender’s email in Mail.
- Tap the sender’s name at the top of the message.
- Choose Block this Contact, then tap Block this Contact again to confirm.
If the sender is marked as a VIP, remove the VIP designation before blocking. Apple’s instructions for blocking phone numbers, contacts, and emails cover the older flow.

Where do blocked emails go on iPhone?
On iOS 26, Mail moves blocked-sender email to Bin. To review or manage blocked contacts, open Settings > Privacy & Security > Blocked Contacts. On iOS 18 and earlier, the blocked-sender list is under Settings > Mail > Blocked. These are version-specific paths; do not look for the older Mail menu on iOS 26.
Should I block the sender or mark the message as junk?

For iCloud Mail, report a message by swiping left on it, tapping More, then Move to Junk. This is a separate action from blocking. If a legitimate iCloud Mail message was marked as junk by mistake, open it in Junk, tap Move to Folder, and move it to Inbox. Apple says future messages from that sender will then go to Inbox rather than being marked as junk. These Junk instructions are specific to iCloud Mail; the same future-filtering behavior is not established here for every mail provider or third-party app.

What if the sender’s messages keep arriving?
Confirm that you blocked the intended contact using the procedure for your iOS version, then check the blocked list in Settings. The documented controls apply to the sender you blocked; Apple’s instructions do not guarantee that messages sent from a different address will be stopped.

Can I prevent unwanted email when signing up for services?
For future sign-ups, iCloud+ Hide My Email can create random, unique addresses for websites and apps, keeping your personal email address private. It is a privacy option for new sign-ups, not a way to block a sender already emailing you. Apple’s Hide My Email overview describes the feature.
