Android deletes all local data within the work profile when it is removed, and ordinary device backup may be unavailable on work-managed setups. Samsung menu names and organization restrictions vary, so first identify where each item is stored and which copying methods your organization allows.
What deleting a work profile removes
An Android Work Profile separates work apps and data from personal apps and data. Android Enterprise states: “After the Work Profile is deleted, all local data on the device within that profile is deleted.” That includes local work-profile files and photos; do not assume they will remain on the handset after removal. That local deletion is different from losing access to the work account. Google Workspace says its data remains available when you sign in on a computer, in a web browser, or on another authorized mobile device. This does not preserve local files in the deleted profile. Check with your organization if you need to know which work data remains accessible or whether you may retain copies.
Find out where your photos and files are stored
On Samsung phones, work apps are commonly marked with a briefcase badge, but labels and layouts differ by Galaxy model and Android version. Check the relevant Gallery, My Files or Files app, and any work app that holds attachments or downloads. Determine whether each wanted item is in the work profile or the personal profile before choosing a backup method.

Make a list of important folders and items. If a work app or folder is managed, or your organization’s rules are unclear, ask the administrator whether you are permitted to copy its contents. Do not bypass a policy that blocks transfer or retention.
Choose a permitted backup method

Available integrations depend on the model and account. For example, the Galaxy Z Fold6 manual describes Microsoft OneDrive cloud storage when Samsung and Microsoft accounts are connected; that does not establish the same setup on every Galaxy device. |

Back up and verify before removal
- Copy only what you are allowed to keep. Use USB transfer to a computer or an organization-approved cloud service. If the phone blocks USB transfer or cloud access, contact your administrator instead of trying to work around the restriction. Management policies differ.
- Wait for the copy or upload to finish. For cloud services, check sync or backup status rather than assuming that selecting files completed the upload.
- Verify the separate copy. Open the copied files on the computer, or access the cloud account from another device or browser and confirm the important photos and files are present and usable. Compare the folders or items on your list with what arrived.
- Keep the required account access. Make sure you can still sign in to the work service from an authorized device if you will need organizational data after profile removal.
- Remove the profile only after verification. If your organization manages the device, it may also be able to remotely delete work-profile data. Ask IT about the timing and consequences if you are uncertain.
Remove the work profile on a Samsung phone
Samsung menus vary by model, software version, and management setup. Search Settings for “Work Profile” and follow the options shown on your phone or the current instructions supplied by your organization. Google’s published removal path is specifically for Pixel devices: Settings > Passwords, Passkeys & Accounts > Remove work profile > Delete. Google notes that steps on other devices may vary; treat that path as an example, not a universal Samsung route. See Google Workspace’s work-account removal instructions.

If the removal option is missing or blocked, contact your organization’s administrator. After removal, check that the work profile and its management app are gone as expected. If you still need work services, sign in from a computer, browser, or other authorized device as your organization permits.
