To repeat a specific YouTube playlist on an old Windows PC, open a video from the saved playlist, expand the playlist panel and select Loop. That repeats the chosen list; Autoplay instead moves to a related video. If you want Windows to open the playlist at a set time, Task Scheduler can launch an app or task, but that does not guarantee YouTube will start playing or recover after an interruption.

Repeat a saved YouTube playlist

  1. Open the intended saved playlist in a desktop browser. Check that it is the right list: a YouTube playlist link contains “playlist” and a playlist identifier. YouTube’s playlist help explains playlists and their links.
  2. Start a video that belongs to that playlist.
  3. Expand the playlist panel beside the video player.
  4. Select Loop in the playlist box. YouTube’s desktop instructions describe this as the way to repeat the playlist continuously. YouTube: Loop videos or playlists

The control applies to the selected playlist. It is different from Autoplay, which plays another related video after the current one. Autoplay settings can differ by device; use playlist Loop when you need the same list to cycle. YouTube: Autoplay videos

Make the sequence reusable

Save a queue as a playlist

A desktop queue is a temporary viewing sequence, not a saved playlist: YouTube says it does not persist after you close the browser. If you want the sequence available again, save the videos to a playlist, then open that playlist and enable Loop. YouTube: Queue videos

Choose and order the videos

Create a playlist or edit an existing one using YouTube’s playlist controls, then arrange the videos in the order you want. Check that the videos are accessible to the account and viewers who need them. Private videos require their owner to share them with each viewer; restricted or unavailable videos may not play for everyone. YouTube: Create and manage playlists

Open the playlist automatically with Windows

If your goal is just to have the playlist page open when you sign in or at a scheduled time, Windows Task Scheduler can run tasks on supported triggers such as a particular time or user logon. This is only a launch convenience: Microsoft’s documentation does not describe a YouTube integration, and scheduling a browser does not guarantee that video playback will begin. Microsoft: Task Scheduler

  1. Confirm your Windows release and installed browser first. On a supported system, open Task Scheduler and create a task using the trigger you need, such as a schedule or user logon.
  2. Set the action to launch the browser and open the intended playlist URL. The exact setup depends on the Windows version and browser installed; do not assume an older PC has a current browser or identical options.
  3. Test the task while signed in and awake. Confirm the playlist page opens, then verify that playback and Loop work. Do not treat a successful page launch as proof of unattended playback or recovery.

A scheduled launch cannot ensure operation if the PC is asleep, powered off, disconnected, signed out, blocked by a browser prompt, or otherwise unable to play. For a single current session, opening the playlist and enabling Loop directly is usually the simpler path.

Check an old PC before leaving it online

  • Check Windows and browser versions. The PC’s exact operating system and browser are not specified, and older operating systems can limit browser support. Microsoft says Edge support includes Windows 10 SAC 1709 and later and certain Windows 10 LTSC editions, while noting that functionality and feature availability can vary on older systems. That Edge-specific information does not establish compatibility for every browser or PC. Microsoft: Microsoft Edge supported operating systems
  • Check security support. Windows 10 version 22H2 reached the end of standard support on October 14, 2025. Windows 10 PCs continue to work, but under standard support they no longer receive Microsoft security updates. Check whether your particular PC has applicable security support before leaving it online for long periods. Microsoft: Windows 10 end of support
  • Check the practical conditions. Make sure the PC can stay awake, the network remains connected, and the playlist videos are still accessible. If playback stops, check these items and the browser’s prompts before changing the playlist settings.

Troubleshoot playlist rotation

What you see Likely cause What to do
A different video starts after the current one. Autoplay is selecting related content rather than repeating the selected playlist. Open a video from the intended playlist, expand its panel and select Loop.
The sequence is gone after closing the browser. The videos were in a temporary queue. Save them as a playlist and use that saved list for repeat playback.
The scheduled task opens a page but no video plays. Task Scheduler launches the browser; it does not guarantee YouTube playback. A prompt or sign-in state may also require interaction. Test playback manually after launch. If reliable playback matters, use the direct YouTube loop for the active session rather than assuming the scheduled launch is unattended.
The playlist stops or skips a video. The PC may sleep or lose network access, or a video may no longer be available to the account. Check power and connectivity, then confirm that each video remains playable and properly shared if private.
The browser cannot be installed or updated. The installed Windows release may no longer support a current browser version. Check Microsoft’s support information for the actual OS and browser. Do not assume Edge compatibility guarantees support for other browsers.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your goal is an always-on YouTube channel rather than a playlist playing on this PC, StreamNeo keeps uploaded videos or a playlist live from the cloud. The setup is: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, then go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams what you upload at its original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream, and the first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube streams of uploaded video, not a live camera feed. See StreamNeo or current plans; India checkout supports UPI. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
