A regular YouTube playlist does not, by itself, become a live broadcast. Before streaming, confirm you have the necessary rights to every song, recording, and visual in the feed.
What you need for an automated YouTube Live stream
YouTube Live broadcasts receive a feed from an encoder. You can use software or dedicated hardware; buying an encoder device is not a YouTube requirement. The encoder or streaming service must play the prerecorded videos in the order you want and send their picture and sound continuously to YouTube.
- A verified YouTube channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days.
- Prerecorded Tamil devotional videos and audio that you are authorized to stream.
- An encoder or service that supports YouTube Live and documents the playlist sequencing and looping behavior you need.
- A scheduled event in YouTube Studio, plus its server URL and stream key.
YouTube’s setup guide describes the encoder workflow: YouTube Live encoder setup. Its encoder options page names Gyre as a cloud-based service for 24/7 prerecorded streaming. That listing alone does not establish current playlist-looping or recovery details, so check the service’s current documentation before relying on it unattended.
Step 1: Check your channel and rights
Confirm live-stream eligibility
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. Check eligibility before preparing a long broadcast; restrictions can prevent you from starting it.

Clear the music and video rights
YouTube’s livestream terms require creators to have the rights needed to use Live Content on Google services worldwide, including music licensing rights. Devotional lyrics or subject matter do not automatically make a particular recording free to stream. Confirm rights for the specific sound recording, composition, performance, and accompanying visuals.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects such content, it may replace the feed with a placeholder, interrupt the broadcast, or terminate it if the content remains. Even if you have a license, the rights owner may need to add your channel to a Content ID allowlist to prevent interruptions. Read YouTube’s livestream terms and live-stream copyright guidance.

Step 2: Schedule a live event in YouTube Studio
Create or schedule the broadcast in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Scheduling creates an upcoming watch page that you can share with viewers. The event and the encoder feed are separate parts of the setup: scheduling the event does not make YouTube play a playlist for you.
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room.
- Create a new stream or schedule one for the intended start time. Set the event details and audience settings appropriate to your channel.
- Locate the stream’s server URL and stream key in the stream settings. YouTube describes the key as functioning like a password and address: keep it private, and do not paste it into public posts or screenshots.
- Use the event’s preview/watch page to confirm the scheduled stream is accessible before relying on it.
Step 3: Configure the encoder to play the playlist
In the encoder, enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key. Then configure the tool to play the intended Tamil devotional videos and audio as one continuous feed. The exact playlist and loop controls vary by encoder; YouTube’s official pages establish that an encoder sends a feed, but do not provide a universal step-by-step loop configuration or guarantee that a standard YouTube playlist automatically feeds a live broadcast.

Before committing to unattended playback, verify in the encoder’s current documentation that it can sequence the files, repeat the playlist when it reaches the end, and resume or alert you after a disconnection. A stream that is technically connected can still have silent audio, a frozen picture, or an unintended gap between videos.
Step 4: Test, start, and monitor the broadcast
- Set output quality to match a reliable upload connection. Check the encoder’s compatibility with YouTube’s current guidance for protocols, codecs, and encoding settings at YouTube encoder settings.
- Test with representative video motion and audio. Check that speech or singing is audible, levels are not distorted, and the picture is moving as expected.
- Start the encoder before the scheduled event if the workflow requires it, then confirm the preview in Live Control Room and check the stream-health indicators.
- Open the watch page as a viewer would and confirm it is accessible. Continue monitoring stream health and audio/video quality, especially when first running the setup.
- To end the broadcast, stop sending content from the encoder. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; plan longer broadcasts with that limit in mind.
YouTube’s live streaming tips cover preparation and preview checks. Technical requirements can change, so verify the current settings and encoder compatibility when you configure the stream.
