To attract new viewers to a 24/7 YouTube stream, make it easy to discover before it starts, keep useful public archives and highlights organized in focused playlists, and use YouTube Analytics to see which routes actually bring viewers. Playlists can help people find related videos and continue watching, but neither a playlist nor broadcasting around the clock guarantees recommendations.
1. Make the stream discoverable before it goes live
For a scheduled event, share its link at least 48 hours before the broadcast. YouTube recommends this lead time in its live-stream promotion guidance. Add the upcoming event to your channel’s Live section and share it through relevant social accounts, your website, or an embed. A short trailer or teaser can give people a reason to set a reminder. These are ways to promote the event, not guaranteed sources of views.
Choose a title and thumbnail that clearly identify the stream’s subject and intended audience. For a continuous stream, make the format clear too: viewers should be able to tell what they will find and whether the content is music, a themed broadcast, or another kind of programming. YouTube recommends learning about audience interests and using recognizable presentation; it does not say that a 24/7 duration itself boosts recommendations.

Keep archives and highlights useful
YouTube says live-stream archives upload automatically by default. When an archive is appropriate for public viewing, keeping it public can help future viewers discover it. Group the archive and relevant highlight clips into playlists with accurate, specific titles. For example, separate a channel’s continuous devotional music stream from its festival broadcasts or shorter performances instead of putting everything into one broad playlist.

Make each playlist coherent: a person who clicks one item should have a clear reason to watch the next. Use titles that describe the content rather than promising results, and arrange videos in an order that makes sense for the viewer. YouTube recommends playlists as one way to make it easier to watch more of a creator’s content.
Use calls to action and related content
During or after a stream, direct viewers to a relevant playlist or related video. A series, clear calls to action, and end screens can help people continue to other content on your channel. Keep the recommendation relevant to what they just watched; an unrelated playlist may interrupt rather than extend the viewing session.
Consider eligible live highlights
YouTube says a Short highlight may be available for some mobile live streams, subject to eligibility conditions: the stream must be vertical, run from 10 minutes to 12 hours, use the YouTube mobile app, have chat enabled, not be marked Made for Kids, and meet safety standards. If you have an eligible highlight, it can become another useful entry point and belong in a focused playlist.

3. Choose discovery routes that fit the stream
Playlists are only one route to viewers. YouTube’s live features and discovery surfaces differ by format, so choose based on your channel and audience rather than assuming one tactic works for everyone.

Feature availability can change, and not every channel has access to every feature. Check the current options in YouTube Studio before planning around a particular live format. YouTube’s live-streaming overview describes starting a stream and format considerations.
4. Measure which routes bring viewers
Inspect playlist and traffic-source data
In YouTube Studio, open Analytics for the stream and review its traffic sources. The Live analytics guidance includes traffic from any playlist containing the stream, including playlists owned by other creators, and lets you inspect which specific playlists sent traffic. Use that report to distinguish playlist discovery from Search, Suggested videos, external links, and other sources rather than assuming a playlist is responsible for a change in views.

Read search terms and viewer response together
Review the search terms people used to find the stream and the channel’s top traffic sources. Those terms can inform relevant future content or clearer titles, but should not be used to mislabel a stream. YouTube recommends understanding audience interests; compare streams of the same format because viewing behavior may differ between formats.

Live Redirect can send viewers from one live stream to a Premiere or another stream, making it a possible handoff between related creators or events. It is not available to every channel: YouTube requires the sending channel to have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. Redirecting viewers to another channel also requires that channel’s permission. Check YouTube’s Live Redirect requirements before arranging a collaboration.

6. Set expectations and improve one route at a time
YouTube describes recommendations as personalized and driven by what viewers watch and enjoy. That means a 24/7 schedule, playlist placement, or tags alone should not be treated as a growth switch. YouTube also says publishing time is not known to affect long-term video performance, though audience-active times may matter if the goal is immediate engagement with a scheduled live event. Use your own Analytics to decide which route deserves the next adjustment.
- Schedule or prepare the event and share its link at least 48 hours in advance.
- Keep appropriate archives public and group them with related highlights in accurate, focused playlists.
- Direct viewers to relevant next content with a clear call to action, series, or end screen.
- Review playlist, Search, Suggested, and external traffic in Analytics, along with search terms and viewer response.
- Compare similar-format streams and adjust one element—such as the playlist organization or promotional route—before judging the result.
